thanks very much for that kirk. i must start remembering to search our own
archives too !

an interesting tool indeed. i still wonder why they used the helical wire
attached to the shaft, rather using the grooved shaft we are more familiar with.
i am sure the same 1.5 turns could have been achieved. maybe the pressure
exerted by the spring on the tool tip was not sufficient to wear the 'wire' away
over time, so they deemed the KISS approach is all that was needed.
