68274 "Peterson, Samuel L." <PetersonS@m...> 1999‑09‑20 Sawtill plans are ready, let the fun begin!
Gentle galoots,

The Galoot sawtill plans(which were first proposed on July 2) are now done.

Website address:
http://www.shavings.net/sawtill.html

The file itself(for folks that want to save it to disk):
http://www.shavings.net/sawtill.doc

I received many pictures and descriptions of vertical and horizontal tills,
and till boxes. All of these helped to develop the galoot sawtill plan.
When all the opinions were looked at, it became clear that this design would
hold the most saws for the space used.

There has been alot of behind the scenes work building prototypes, and
making changes. The plans were professionally drawn by Jim Thoreson, and
John Gunterman is graciously providing the webspace. It was a pleasure
working with everyone involved, and I hope that lots of sawtills will be
built from this plan.

As everyone builds the sawtill, please feel free to point out
interesting/erroneous/problem areas of the plan.

Enjoy!

Samuel and others,

Great job! Can't wait to make my own. I expect my dovetailing abilities to
improve dramatically after my class with Frank Klaus this Friday at the Novi
AWW show. Anyone else going?

And they are nifty. One variation I will point out is the one I used when
I built a simpler version: I left the bottom open so the dust (saw and
otherwise) could just fall through.
