I have a request for owners of Black & Decker Workmates from the period 1974-1982. Do you have any paper ephemera related to the Workmate that you could scan and send me to use on my "H-frame" website? Or do you have items from this vintage already in digital form, that you downloaded at some point from the manufacturer or elsewhere? Desirable items from 1974 to 1982 would include instruction manuals, catalogs, advertisements, brochures, reviews, articles, etc., applying to any model of Workmate or accessory of that vintage from anywhere in the world. You can see what I have already on my Documents page: https://h-frame.weebly.com/documents.html There are currently over 55 items for download, including two dozen instruction manuals, but I'm always looking for more. You may enjoy seeing my most recent additions to the Documents page under the "Advertisements" heading, where I now have the very first newspaper ads for the Workmate, from both Canada and the U.S. --Chris Check out H-frame, the site for vintage Workmates: https://h-frame.weebly.com/ |

Adverts? for Ron Hickman’s new wunderbench? I seem to recall the pages Do-It-Yourself magazine carrying great artwork and singing it’s praises. I don’t have old copies from 50 years ago to hand - but these folk might…. http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?fn=search&ct =search&initialSearch=true&mode=Advanced&tab=local_tab&indx=1&dum=true&srt=rank& vid=BLVU1&frbg=&tb=t&vl%282084770715UI0%29=any&vl%282084770715UI0%29=title&vl%28 2084770715UI0%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith0%29=contains&vl%28freeText0%29=do+it+your self&vl%28boolOperator0%29=AND&vl%282084770717UI1%29=any&vl%282084770717UI1%29=t itle&vl%282084770717UI1%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith1%29=contains&vl%28freeText1%29= &vl%28boolOperator1%29=AND&vl%282084770716UI2%29=any&vl%282084770716UI2%29=title &vl%282084770716UI2%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith2%29=contains&vl%28freeText2%29=&vl% 28boolOperator2%29=AND&vl%282084770721UI3%29=journals&vl%28drStartDay4%29=00&vl% 28drStartMonth4%29=00&vl%28drStartYear4%29=Year&vl%28drEndDay4%29=00&vl%28drEndM onth4%29=00&vl%28drEndYear4%29=Year&scp.scps=scope%3A%28BLCONTENT%29&Submit=Sear ch">http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?fn=search&ct=sear ch&initialSearch=true&mode=Advanced&tab=local_tab&indx=1&dum=true&srt=rank&vid=B LVU1&frbg=&tb=t&vl%282084770715UI0%29=any&vl%282084770715UI0%29=title&vl%2820847 70715UI0%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith0%29=contains&vl%28freeText0%29=do+it+yourself& vl%28boolOperator0%29=AND&vl%282084770717UI1%29=any&vl%282084770717UI1%29=title& vl%282084770717UI1%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith1%29=contains&vl%28freeText1%29=&vl%2 8boolOperator1%29=AND&vl%282084770716UI2%29=any&vl%282084770716UI2%29=title&vl%2 82084770716UI2%29=any&vl%281UIStartWith2%29=contains&vl%28freeText2%29=&vl%28boo lOperator2%29=AND&vl%282084770721UI3%29=journals&vl%28drStartDay4%29=00&vl%28drS tartMonth4%29=00&vl%28drStartYear4%29=Year&vl%28drEndDay4%29=00&vl%28drEndMonth4 %29=00&vl%28drEndYear4%29=Year&scp.scps=scope%3A%28BLCONTENT%29&Submit=Search <http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?fn=search &ct=search&initialSearch=true&mode=Advanced&tab=local_tab&indx=1&dum=true&srt=ra nk&vid=BLVU1&frbg=&tb=t&vl">http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/sea rch.do?fn=search&ct=search&initialSearch=true&mode=Advanced&tab=local_tab&indx=1 &dum=true&srt=rank&vid=BLVU1&frbg=&tb=t&vl(2084770715UI0)=any&vl(2084770715U I0)=title&vl(2084770715UI0)=any&vl(1UIStartWith0)=contains&vl(freeText0)=do+it+y ourself&vl(boolOperator0)=AND&vl(2084770717UI1)=any&vl(2084770717UI1)=title&vl(2 084770717UI1)=any&vl(1UIStartWith1)=contains&vl(freeText1)=&vl(boolOperator1)=AN D&vl(2084770716UI2)=any&vl(2084770716UI2)=title&vl(2084770716UI2)=any&vl(1UIStar tWith2)=contains&vl(freeText2)=&vl(boolOperator2)=AND&vl(2084770721UI3)=journals &vl(drStartDay4)=00&vl(drStartMonth4)=00&vl(drStartYear4)=Year&vl(drEndDay4)=00& vl(drEndMonth4)=00&vl(drEndYear4)=Year&scp.scps=scope:(BLCONTENT)&Submit=Search> Alternatively, Ken Hawley’s archive at Kelham Island has thousands of uncatalogued paper items. I was all excited thinking yeah I have that, went and found the folder and what I actually have is the documentation (including purchase receipt), and projects folder for the Triton Workcentre. Similar age, but not the right tool. Michael NZ |

Richard, Thanks for the leads but it seems as though neither of those has related items available online, so they aren't practical sources for me. Chris _____ From: yorkshireman@y... Thanks. I was aware of that useful site and had checked it already. If I remember correctly there was one document there that was helpful. --Chris Check out H-frame, the site for vintage Workmates: https://h-frame.weebly.com/ -----Original Message----- From: OldTools [mailto:oldtools-bounces@s...] On Behalf Of John Leyden Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2021 7:27 PM To: OldTools List Subject: Re: [OldTools] Request for Workmate owners The vintagemachinery.org site has two WorkMate accessory ephemera in its publication reprint section that may be of interest to you and quite a collection of general line catalogs as well. http://vintagemachinery.org/mfgIndex/detail.aspx?id=101&tab=3&sort=2&th=fals e&fl= ------------------------------------------------------------------------ OldTools is a mailing list catering to the interests of hand tool aficionados, both collectors and users, to discuss the history, usage, value, location, availability, collectibility, and restoration of traditional handtools, especially woodworking tools.
