Among a couple of other small things I got today is a pretty good sized
paring chisel, 1 1/4" wide by almost 9" long including the socket. It
has a mark I've not heard of before.

GUARANTEE ENTZ & RUCKER LOS ANGELES

I am going to assume that Entz & Rucker must have been a hardware store
in LA and selling tools with their mark. Anybody know this mark?

Ebay has a 1923 tool catalog from them for auction right now. Hardware, 
Auto Supplies, Fishing Tackle, Builders Hardware at cut prices on east 
5th street L.A.
So it looks like a good guess.
