Alf -- don't listen to him. He has brewed more (US or Imperial) gallons
of real ale than you can imagine. Since you live in England, you know
that anyone who brews the stuff can't possibly sell it without making
quite sure it is in accordance with all relevant standards, Chris has
undoubtedly imbibed enough of the good stuff to beat your typical pub-
fancier. so you can't believe a word he says. He's actually 95 years
old and female (fanTASTIC drag, and so young-looking!).
Chris -- what the heck is a COOF?
Alf -- Welcome to galootdom. We are perfectly willing to tolerate Brits
and women, but under 30!?!?!? There are traditions that we must uphold!
Seriously, if you are interested in the subject, it doesn't matter who
you are. Newcomers and experts, old and young, male or female, brewer
or non-brewer, collector or user. Given that most of us are male, the
expression SWMBO ("she who must be obeyed") figures in conversation
occasionally. Don't get any ideas, however! And despite what Chris
says, I still remember my 20s; unlike him, I remember my 40s as well.
