Gentlemen,
I am fairly new to woodworking (~3 yrs) which is why I've lurked for so long.
I spend my weeks turning sand into tiny chips so that I can afford to spend
wy weekends turning wood into tiny chips. My chief interest in old tools is
for furniture making as I have been disappointed by almost every new tool I've
bought. I own four planes #4,#4,#5, & #? (small 3 finger little bugger) and am
about to purchase a #7. One of my #4 came from Home depot before I knew
better (when I put my straight edge along the base, I could easily slip 150
grit sandpaper between it and the tool - that's been fixed).
I've found Phoenix, AZ to be an old tool desert. I've given up on garage
sales
and swap meets (I've had to import most of what I own). Am I just not looking
in the right places?
Recently returned from a vacation in Jamaica with a suitcase full of Lignum
Vitae just waiting for a plane to be coaxed out of it (still waiting for it to
stabilize to our <50midity here).
Well that's about it. I think I would like to try my hand at building an
infill once you folks have worked out the details - sounds like fun. Now I'll
go crawl back under the shop mat.
Cheers,
Luke
