I kind of have a thing for ratchet screwdrivers.
Yankee of ol Philly made some great ones.
   I found a really top of the line long shank ("radio") driver that 
took assorted bits. An early convertible driver!
  The only problem is, it came with one bit
and I have never even seen another bit that would fit this driver.

The bits work like a morse taper lathe attachment only in this case its 
a long ramp cut into the side of the bit.
It wedges itself in strong and takes quite a pull to dislodge it.
A really clever design except for the tough dislodging the bit part.

I decided to mount a 1/4" insert bit chuck to it.
The kind with a sliding lock collar besides magnets.

   I ground the shank round to fit (freehand with calipers, and slowly) 
and then ground the long flat ramp, even slower.
The result is that it holds fiercely.

   The driver was generally cleaned up and polished o course

   Will I desperately need it anytime soon?
Has that ever stopped me before? haahhaha

I got a second plainer driver at the same time in pretty dismal condition.

Really nice work Scott!
Now you've got an almost infinite set of weird bits you can put in that
driver.
Just this last week I used a Yankee with a big Torx bit to tighten up a
couple of bolts on the Chevy.
That used a hex adapter I fitted to the driver.
Not as cool a bit of work as yours though!
