278306 Tony Seo 2024‑03‑11 FS: The Toolz Of 2024 List 3-1
March is here and is already marching on...sigh.  Time to do the PATINA
panic pack, and as usual I don't have a clue as to what I'm taking.
There are a number of fresh and solid old tools on this list.

PayPal is preferred (if you use it) on all items. It's easier for me to

ship items off of a paid PayPal invoice, especially First Class ones.

Checks and money orders are still welcome.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Prices do not include shipping.  All items are shipped with Delivery
Confirmation. Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item
is optional. Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via
First Class mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping
cover the cost of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Record No 07 Jointer Plane.  This weighs 7 lbs 13 oz unboxed.  Made in
Merry Olde England.  This is in good condition and was cleaned. The
sides have a few small spots of frosting and some light factory
machining marks, but nothing too bad.  The sole also has more of the
same along with a few small and light scratches.  The finish is original
and is near perfect except for some dings on the tops of the sides.  The
lever cap has some tiny dots of light rust.  The chipbreaker has some
frosting.  The blade has some patina on the exposed areas and the back.
The cutting face has a light band of frosting down at the edge, but
after that it's clean.  The blade will need a sharpening.  The tote and
knob have a few light dings, but they both have almost all of the
original finish, plus a coat of wax.  All the screws work and were
oiled.  This ain't pristine, but it is a quality tool that will get the
job done.  $125.00

Stanley No 40 Everlasting 3/8 Inch Chisel.  Measuring 5 5/16" from the
edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 3 7/8" long, this is 8 3/4"
overall, and this weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  The back has some frosting, but nothing too
bad patina wise.  The tops and sides also have some frosting and
staining.  The edge will need some work.  The handle has some dings and
a few tiny bits of paint.  The striking button has some tiny dings, but
was spared the sledge hammer treatment.  This ain't minty, but it's a
solid tool that will get the job done.  $24.00

Maples & Sons Cast Steel No 5 11/16" Carving Tool Gouge. Measuring 5"
from the edge to the top of where the handle would start, the blade is
11/16" wide across the sweep, the sweep looks to be a No. 5, this is 7
1/4" overall, and this weighs 2 oz unboxed. This is in fair condition
and was cleaned.  Somebody else had polished the sweep a little at the
edge, but after that there is some overall light pitting on the inside.
The back is fairly clean for the most part.  The tang is good.  This
will need a handle. This ain't perfect, but with a little work, it will
get the job done.  $14.00

Springfield Trapdoor Model 1879 Gun Tool.  Measuring 2 5/8" long and
this weighs 1 1/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition, the
only cleaning was a wipe down with some penetrating oil to get rid of
some grease.  There is a little overall light patina.  The joint is good
and holds.  The wrench, punch, and screwdriver tips are all good to go.
This ain't minty, but it will get the job done.  $17.00

Early Hand Forged PA Dutch Style Felling Axe Head.  Measuring 5 7/8"
long (across the center), the edge is 4" high (straight across), the
steel bit is 7/16" deep at the center, and this weighs 3 lbs 8 oz
unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned and it wasn't the first time.  There is the usual patina.
The steel bit is clean save for a few dings and is fairly sharp.
Somebody else dressed the top and the poll, but they did a fairly good
job.  There are some dings on the top of the eye and the poll, and some
mushrooming on the inside of the eye there.  Note the decorative lines
on the underside of the eye.  The forge weld line for the eye is opened
a little at the front.  This ain't pristine, but these guys are sure
getting few and far between of late.  $55.00

Vintage Cobblers Hammer.  Measuring 7 3/4" overall, the head is 3 5/8"
long, the face is 1 5/16" in diameter, the peen is 1 3/8" wide, and this
weighs 14 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall roughness on the head
left over from when this was made.  The black finish is original and
most of that is present.  The face has some tiny dings, but nothing too
bad.  The peen is good.  The handle was user crafted and was hand carved
from a piece of oak.  That has some checks at the end and some long gone
worm holes, but it's solid enough to use.  This ain't pristine, but it
will get the job done. $17.00

Stanley No 49 1904 Patent Auger Bit Depth Gage.  This weighs 4 1/2 oz
unboxed.  Arthur D. Campbell of Wilkes-Barre, PA was granted Pat. No.
772,211 on Oct. 11, 1904 for the design of this tool.  This is in
reasonably good condition for being 100 plus years old, and was
cleaned.  There is a little rust staining on the body, but this almost
all of the plating, except for the pads which have some wear and light
patina.  The screws and nuts are good.  This ain't minty, but there
ain't too many of this vintage that are, and it sure ain't bad.  $24.00

overall, the head is 2 1/4" long, the face and peen are 7/16" in
diameter, and this weighs 4 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. There
are a few dots and small spots of patina, but this has almost all of the
original finish.  The pictures tell the rest of the story.  This is what
it is, but to my eye it is kinda neat.  $14.00

fine.  This is in good condition and was cleaned.  There is some
staining on both sides, but nothing much in the way of wear. There are
some tiny dings on the sides.  This ain't minty, but it is a quality
stone that will get the job done.  $14.00

Reproduction Horn Handle Leather Awl.  Measuring 2 5/16" from the tip to
the start of the handle, overall this is 5 1/2" long, and this weighs 1
1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker, but this was made by Dennis
Miles (well known blacksmith) a while back.  I had gotten a number of
these from him and this is the last one I have, I think.  This is in
good condition, I did take some patina from sitting around here off of
the blade.  The tip and edges are good, there are some light scuffs on
the sides from when this was made.  The horn handle is good and
everything is tight.  This is a good tool for any re-enactor and well
Dennis left us a while back. $18.00

L S Starrett No 73 6 Inch Yankee Pattern Inside Caliper.  Measuring 7"
long and this weighs 2 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned.  There is some light frosting on the legs and some light
pitting down by the tips.  The spring and tips are good otherwise.  The
nut travels the full distance and holds.  This ain't pristine, but it
will get the job done.  $16.00

Millers Falls No 3 Rogers Patent Timberframer T-Auger Handle. Measuring
16" long and this weighs 1 lb 4 1/4 oz unboxed.  George E. Rogers of
Greenfield, MA was granted Pat. No. 484,050 on Oct. 11, 1892 for the
design of this tool.  This isn't signed, but few of these were.  This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned and the head refinished.
The jaws are good.  The nut works and the threads were oiled.  The oak
handles have some stains and dings, a few of them deep, but they are
solid and on tight.  This ain't pristine, but it's a solid tool that
will get the job done.  $45.00

Pexto Sampson-D No 8012D 12 Inch Sweep Brace.  This weighs 3 lbs 5 1/4
oz unboxed.  Henry V. Smith of Hartford, CT was granted Pat. No. 542,448
on July 9, 1895 for the original design of the chuck used on this tool.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The plating on the arms
and chuck is pretty much gone and there is some overall light frosting,
but nothing too bad patina wise.  The Sampson chuck, which takes both
round shaft and square tang bits is good.  The ratchet works in both
directions and the locked position.  The grip and pad look to be
rosewood.  They both have some dings, but spin freely.  This ain't
pristine, but it's a solid and heavy duty tool that will get the job
done.  $45.00

Stanley Handyman No H1253A 10 Inch Sweep Brace.  This weighs 1 lb 15 1/4
oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and was not cleaned.
There is some staining and a few spots of light patina on the frame, but
nothing too bad.  The chuck and jaws are good, but this model never had
a spring on the jaws.  The ratchet works in both directions and the
locked position.  The wood grip and pad have almost all of the original
finish.  There are a few dings and bits of paint, but both spin freely.
This ain't pristine, but it will get the job done.  $24.00

Early Hand Forged Slater Slate Roofing Hammer.  Measuring 13 1/8"
overall, the head is 7 9/16" long, the face is 5/8" in diameter, and
this weighs 1 lb 6 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in
decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall roughness left
over from when this was made along with some bits of pitting and some
user added score lines.  The face has some dings, a couple of tiny chips
around the edge, and the start of some mushrooming.  The punch tip was
dressed recently and will need some fine tuning.  This guy never had
nail claws.  The breaking edge on the shaft is good.  The wood handle
does have a couple of checks, but it's on tight.  The nut at the end
does turn.  This ain't minty, but it does have some history to it to say
the least.  $32.00

J Beatty & Son Cast Steel 3 Inch Slick Chisel.  Measuring 15" from the
edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 7 1/2" long, 3" wide at the
edge and tapers down a little, the steel bit is 6 1/2" deep at the
center, and this weighs 3 lbs 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned.  The steel bit has some frosting, some
dots of light pitting, one small larger patch, but overall nothing too
bad.  The edge has some chips and will need some work.  The sides have
some dings.  The top also has some dings, scratches, and light patina.
The socket has a visible forge weld line, but it's solid.  There is a
little roughness and a small chip at the end, but I got rid of most of
the mushrooming on the outside and the inside.  This ain't pristine, but
it sure ain't bad considering the age of the tool.  $90.00

Vintage Cast Steel 7 Inch Draw Knife Or Drawknife.  Measuring 12 3/4"
overall, the blade is 7" long, 3/4" wide at the center, 1" at the ends,
and this weighs 13 oz unboxed.  This was signed, but the name is pretty
much lost to history.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The
steel on the back has some frosting, but nothing too bad.  The iron
frame has some overall frosting and light pitting.  The top is dinged up
and I did run a file over some mushrooming on the front.  The edge will
need some work.  The handles are black walnut.  The right one has a deep
check on both sides that I put some glue down into.  That was on tight,
but this will help.  Both of them have some dings, stains, and wear.
The ferrules and end caps also have some patina.  This ain't pretty or
perfect, but for small work, it will get the job done.  $27.00

5/8" from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 5/8" wide
across the sweep, the sweep is a No. 17, this is 9 5/8" overall, and
this weighs 4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and was
cleaned.  The inside of the sweep is clean save for some light scuffs.
The back is also good.  The edge will need a quick touch up.  The handle
is original and signed.  That has some stains, but it's solid.  This is
a top quality tool and they sure ain't getting any easier to find.  Just
saying.  $27.00

3/8" long, and this weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There are some
spots of pitting on the body  and jaw.  The main screw works, that
travels the full distance and holds.  The jaw also travels the full
distance, but the screw holding the jaw to the body, does not turn.
This ain't minty, but these guys are sure getting few and very far
between, and they ain't cheap when you do find one.  Just saying.  $65.00

peen is 5/16" in diameter, and this weighs 10 1/4 oz unboxed.  This is
in good condition and was cleaned.  There are some light dings on the
head.  The face and peen have some staining, but nothing too bad patina
wise.  The magnetic peen still has lots of stick to it.  The handle is
original to the tool.  That has almost all of the original finish plus a
coat of wax.  The head wiggles a hair, but does no come off.  This ain't
pristine, but it will get the job done.  $23.00

few spots above the tang bolster.  This is in reasonably good condition
and was cleaned.  The back has some light scuffs and a few dots of
pitting, but overall nothing too bad.  The sides and top also have some
light patina.  The edge is ready to work.  The oak handle has some dings
and stains, but it's solid. This ain't pristine, but it is a good
looking tool that will get the job done.  $17.00

Vintage Cast Iron Hand Vise Or Handvise.  Measuring 5" long, the jaws
are 1 7/16" wide, and this weighs 14 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is signed,
but I can't read it.  Might be a Dasco.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  There is some wear to the finish and bit of
patina, but overall nothing too bad.  The jaws are good save for a wee
bit of chipping on the top.  The cross hatching on the faces is also
good and they close up tight and flush.  The screw is good and the nut
travels the full distance. The spring has lots of spring left to it.
This ain't pristine, but it will get the job done.  $27.00

either.  $25.00

Hand Forged Blacksmith Straight Peen Head.  Measuring 4 7/8" long, the
face is 1 1/4" square, the peen is 1 3/8" high, about 1/4" wide, and
this weighs 1 lb 12 1/2 oz unboxed.  This has a mark, looks like 113,
but I can't say for sure,  I'm thinking that this was a hot cut chisel
head originally, but the last guy or 3 were using this has a hammer.
This is in fair condition and was cleaned.  There there is some overall
pitting and patina.  The face has some dings, wear, and mushrooming.
The peen has some chipping on the sides and at the one end.  The punched
eye also has some chipping on the one side and a little crusty on the
inside.  This ain't pretty or perfect, but it will get the job done.  $18.00

TWO Vintage E-Z Mark Door Butt Gauges.  There is a 3 1/2", a 4", and
they weigh 12 1/2 oz unboxed.  The one is marked Pat Pend, the other has
a patent number, but I can't find that anywhere.  These are in decent
condition and were not cleaned.  Both of them have some wear to the
finish and some light patina, but nothing too bad.  All of the edges are
fairly good.  These ain't minty, but they are a lot less common than the
Stanley ones, at least in my travels.  $18.00

Greenlee No 900 24 Inch Brace Auger Bit Extension.  Measuring 24" long
and this weighs 1 lb 4 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned.  There are few light spots of patina on the
chuck area, but nothing too bad.  The shaft has some staining and some
light pitting down by the shaft.  The chuck works and was oiled (I put a
bit in it).  This ain't minty, but it will allow you to stick yer bit
deeper than you ever could have imagined.  Just saying.  $19.00

Precision-Bilt 3/4 Inch Bevel Side Paring Chisel.  Measuring 6 13/16"
from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 4 5/16" long, this
is 10 5/16" overall, and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. Precision-Bilt
was a brand name used by Spiegel Inc. on their line of wood working
tools.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The back
is good save for some light scuffs.  There are some dings on the sides.
The edge will need some work.  The top has some frosting and staining.
The socket does have some deep dings or what have you on the sides.  The
handle looks to be original.  That has some stains and wear to the end
leather washer, but it's solid. I did not have it off of the tool.  This
ain't pristine, but I sure ain't seen too many of these guys around.  $17.00

Millers Falls No 4 T-Auger Handle.  Measuring 15 1/8" long and this
weighs 2 lbs 13 1/4 oz unboxed.  This isn't signed, but few of these
were.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The finish on the
chuck and head area is worn.  The chuck and jaws are good and the
ratchet works in both directions and the locked position.  The fixed
handle has a poorly done hanging hole.  The spinning section on the
removable handle doesn't turn and was probably glued on at some point.
The handle does remove and works in both holes.  This guy ain't pretty
or perfect, but it will get the job done.  $45.00

Upson Nut Co No 69 1 Ft Folding Rule.  This weighs 1/2 oz unboxed. The
Upson Nut Co. was a Unionville CT toolmaker in business from 1854 until
1911.  This is in fair condition and was cleaned.  The outer segments
have some staining and the inside ones also have some spots.  The finish
is pretty much gone.  The insides have some scratch marks from the
pins.  The rulings are readable for the most part.  The joints are good
and the side pin is present.  This ain't minty, by any stretch, but
these smaller rules are sure getting few and far between.  $14.00

clean other than a little staining.  All the screws work.  The blade is
probably the original one.  That is fairly sharp.  The handle has some
stains, but has all of the original finish.  This is a solid tool that
will get the job done.  $16.00

Stanley No 3 Type 16 Smooth Or Smoothing Plane.  This weighs 3 lbs 1 3/4
oz unboxed.  This is a Type 16 and was made by Stanley between 1933 and
1941.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The sides
have some spots of very light pitting and some frosting, but nothing too
bad.  The sole has more of the same along with some light scratches.
The japanning is original and 98% present.  There are a few small bits
of funky.  The lever cap has almost all of the plating and is good other
than a few dots.  The chipbreaker has some frosting.  The blade has some
light pitting and patina on the exposed areas and the back, but the
cutting face is clean and there is lots to work with.  The blade has
some tiny dings on the edge and will need a sharpening.  The tote and
knob have almost all of the original finish.  There are some dings and a
few tiny bits of paint, but they are solid.  All the screws work and
were oiled.  This ain't pristine, but it sure ain't bad, and it will get

maker.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  There is
some overall light patina.  You can see the grain of the wrought iron
that this was made from.  The edge is good save for a little wear at the
corners.  The handle is solid and good. THis is a good looking example
of this tool, and they sure ain't getting any easier to find.  $32.00

condition and was not cleaned.  There is some overall staining, but
nothing too bad patina wise.  The edges are cripsy good.  The side
screws for the clamp work as does the top hold down screw.  This ain't

maker of tools for the mining and railroad industries and is still in
business today, but this is one of the older ones.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned.  There is lots of patina, including some
dings and pitting.  The face has some wear, light dings, and a few small
chips around the rim.  The peen is fairly good save for some light dings
and wear.  The punched eye has some crusty on the inside.  This ain't

This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The body has some dings,
stains, and some bits of paint that refused to come off.  The iron sole
has some frosting, scuffs, stains, and other light patina.  The fence
screw is original and works.  The iron is fairly good.  There was a shin
on the one side of the wedge that got lost when I removed it, so I added
a new one.  The wedge does hold. This ain't the fanciest one of these

Taylor Patent 1836 Iron 6 1/2 Inch Bitstock.  Measuring 10 1/2" long,
the sweep is 6 1/2", and this weighs 1 lb 3 1/2 oz unboxed. Jeremy
Taylor of Hebron, CT was granted Pat. No. 9,814X on June 30, 1836 for
the design of this tool.  These were made by a number of makers and this
one isn't signed.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  Overall
the body is fairly good, save for some spots of light pitting.  The
chuck is solid with no cracks.  The locking tab joint pint was replaced
with a cooper one at some point in time.  The spring is a little weak,
but the tab is good.  There is a hole on the back side of the chuck
where it looks like a screw was going to go, but it was never tapped.
The pin that keeps the pad on the shaft was also replaced at some point
with a nail.  There is some play on the shaft, but it doesn't come off.
That was oiled. This ain't minty, but then tools of this age rarely are
and these smaller sweep ones aren't very common either.  $32.00

Big Early Shipbuilders Brass Blade & Mahogany Bevel Square.  The blade
is 12 15/16" long, 1 1/4" wide, the handle is 17" high, and this weighs
10 oz unboxed.  J A W made his mark on both sides of the handle so I'm
suspected him as the maker.  This is in reasonably good condition and
was cleaned.  The blade has some stains, dings, and some slight waves,
but the edges are good.  The mahogany handle has 5 stamped on both sides
in a number of spots and also on the end.  That also has some wear to
the edges, along with stains, and dings.  The copper rivet is good.
This holds position fairly well. This ain't minty, but these guys sure

maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some
overall pitting and patina on the head.  The face is fairly good save
for some small dings as is the peen.  The square punched eye looks to be
good as well.  The handle is old and could be original to  the tool.
That has some stains, dings, some tiny bits of paint down in the grain,
and there is some roughness and the start of some chipping on the one
side.  It feels solid enough, but it's a handle.  This ain't the

did do some cleaning to get rid of some recent patina, but this guy is
pretty much fresh from the forged.  The peen was dressed and is good,

and re-cut.  That's not quite perfect, but it's not bad either.  The
cavities close up tight with next to no light showing through.  The
joint is good as are the sprue cutters.  The handles have some light

Unusual Wood Handle Founders Sand Trowel.  Measuring 3 9/16" long across
the face, 2" wide, 2 3/4" high, and this weighs 8 oz unboxed.  Not
signed as to the maker, my guess is that this was user crafted.  This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The face has a couple of
spots of very light pitting and a little wear on the edges, but overall
nothing too bad.  The oak handle has some thin checks and stains, but
it's solid and on tight.  I gotta say, that this is not a very common
tool of this style.  $18.00

H S Laudenslager Allentown PA Hand Forged Millwright Mill Pick Head.
Measuring 6 1/2" long, the edges are 1 1/4" wide, this is 1 1/16" high
at the eye, and this weighs 1 lb 9 1/2 oz unboxed.  I've had other tools
with this mark, but no information has shown up on this maker.  This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned by someone else.  There is
some light patina, but this guy was never real pretty to start with.
Somebody also dressed both edges and they are good.  The punched eye is
ready to drop on a handle.  This is a good collectible tool to say the
least.  $24.00

L S Starrett No 390 Center Gage.  This weighs 1/4 oz unboxed.  This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  There are some light
scratches and a little frosting, but nothing too bad.  The edges and
corners are good and all the rulings are readable.  This ain't pristine,
but it will get the job done.  $14.00

John Sanderson Sheffield Brass Backed Back Saw.  Measuring 18" overall,
the blade is 13 3/4" long, 2 3/8" high at the toe (from the edge to the
start of the back), 2 9/16" high right in front of the tote, this is
sharpened to 12 PT (11 TPI), and this weighs 1 lb 5 1/2 oz unboxed.
John Sanderson was a Sheffield England maker of saws who worked from
1821 until 1852.  This is in decent condition. it looks like the blade
was cleaned at some point, but not by me. The blade has some spots of
pitting, most of which are light, a few a bit deeper.  The edge has a
very slight wave, but all the teeth are present.  This will need a
sharpening.  The tote is beech.  That has some stains, dings, and wear.
There is some chipping on the end of the lower horn and a few smaller
ones on the top horn.  This is missing the one saw nut and the screw
post is gone as well.  This is what it is, but seeing as how it's over
170 years old, well it ain't all that bad.  Just saying.  $60.00

L S Starrett No 155 American Standard Machinists Screw Pitch Gage. This
weighs 3 oz unboxed.  This is in decent condition and was not cleaned.
The leaves have some scuffs and a few spots of rust, but the edges are
good, and all of them are present.  The handle has some frosting.  Both
of the screws work and hold.  This ain't minty, and it sure ain't got
that kinda of price tag, but it will get the job done.  $14.00

J Beatty Cast Steel 1 7/16 Inch Millwright Mortising Chisel. Measuring
15 13/16" overall, the blade is 9 3/4" long, this is 1 7/16" wide at the
edge and tapers down to 1 5/16" at the socket, and this weighs 2 lbs 6
3/4 oz unboxed.  John Beatty was a Chester PA area tool maker who worked
from 1838 until 1875.  This is in fair condition and was cleaned.  This
did not have a very pretty life. Read on.  There are some pitted spots
on the back and a bunch of lighter pin point pitted holes over the
entire back.  The steel does look to run the full distance of the blade
as far as I can tell. The edge will need some work.  The sides have some
dings.  The top has a bunch of cut marks.  The socket has some light
patina, but it's solid and was never struck.  This will need a handle, I
do not have any here that will fit.  This ain't pretty or perfect, but
these big guys sure are getting few and very far between anymore. $45.00

James Swan 8 Inch Adjustable Handle Draw Knife Or Drawknife. Measuring
17" overall, the blade is 7 7/8" long, a little over 1 1/8" wide across
the edge, and this weighs 1 lb 2 1/2 oz unboxed. This design was
patented by Richard Watrous on Dec. 15, 1857 (Pat. No. 18,877) and was
originally made by the Noble Mfg. Co.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned and it wasn't the first time. Somebody had previously and
rather aggressively, cleaned the back of the blade, and there is some
overall scuffing, along with some small spots of pitting.  The top is
good and was never hit.  The edge will need some work.  The front also
has some light scuffs, frosting, and light pitting.  Both of the handle
adjuster nuts work and were oiled.  The handles are black walnut.  Both
of those do move around on the tangs.  This ain't pretty or perfect, but
is is a quality tool that will get the job done.  $50.00
