My neighbours have two boys, and last week they made a workbench about 14" high to hold a tv. Finished that one, they built another one with a bit more finesse for a birthday present for a cousin. Finished that and their uncle commissioned another one for him. They went whole hog, borrowed a planer (with nicks in the blade) and glued and laminated up a top! They were gonna sand out the raised spots the nicks had left, and I was admiring their industry as was their dad- so I found a spare cabinet scraper, and an old block plane and donated it to the cause. They commented a few days later, even remembering the names, and said how much sanding time they had saved. Eric |

Travis, You wrote, ==snip snip== ... I came across a YouTube video of an English guy giving a tour of his 6ft x 8ft shed. I thought the List might be interested. :) Pretty clever. A mix of power and hand tools. I love that he referred to his jointer plane as his "carbon-neutral planer". :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCtRWwvGHeY ==end snip== Clever indeed. But I didn't see a workbench big enough or sturdy enough to put his "carbon-neutral planer" to work! Cheers, Chuck Taylor north of Seattle |
