269949 "yorkshireman@y..." <yorkshireman@y...> 2020‑02‑17 the Jeff Gorman collection
Galoots,

a couple of days ago I passed Chris Cowan’s kind words regarding Jeff on to Adam
Gorman, Jeff’s son,

Here’s Adam’s reply, very slightly snipped.

You will see that Adam is suggesting that Galoots might have first dibs
(privileged access, Paddy) on the remaining planes from Jeffs’ workshop. I
have suggested that yes, we would. Equally, I have offered any help needed to
dispose of them to raise funds for the charity.
Also - you will also see a link to material from Jeffs website, and a link to
som eof his magazine articles.

Anyway - here is the message.

Hello Richard

Thanks for the message, another person who hears "impossible for me to cut
myself, as long as I keep my fingers behind the blade” whenever they pick up a
chisel! I’ve passed the message on to my sister as mum is currently travelling
down to her for half-term.

I was going to contact you shortly as the great workshop clear out is underway.
Much of the run of the mill tools have gone (well apart from the ones I coveted
and he never let me near that I now have!) to a couple of local mens sheds
charities. There are a few of the relatively valuable old planes that I need to
photograph and I was wondering if the group would be interested in having first
dibs on them, we’re thinking we’d donate any takings to the Macular Society,
it’s finding an appreciative home that is important.

His website has been roughly ported to https://jeffgorman.uk">https://jeffgorman.uk <https://jeffgorman.uk/">https://jeffgorman.uk/> I never realised there
was so much on there until I started moving it.

Dad had a humanist celebration and I was expecting the text to be made available
on their associated remembrance website. However this hasn’t yet happened so I
have made it available at https://jeffgorman.uk/static/pdf/F548%20Jeff%
20Gorman%20presentation%20script.pdf">https://jeffgorman.uk/static/pdf/F548%20Je

ic/pdf/F548%20Jeff%20Gorman%20presentation%20script.pdf">https://jeffgorman.uk/s
tatic/pdf/F548%20Jeff%20Gorman%20presentation%20script.pdf>. The group gets
more of a mention than most! Since then I’ve taken 13,000 photos off his old
desktop - divided between family and woodwork they split 3000/10,000 - yes
that’s the right way round 3000 for family.

Finally for the celebration I produced tribute magazine, in place of an order of
service, from some of his Good Woodworking pieces - there is a pdf at ttps://jeffgorman.uk/static/pdf/Dad%20Mag%20Web.pdf">https://jeffgorman.uk/stati
c/pdf/Dad%20Mag%20Web.pdf <https://jeffgorman.uk/static/pdf/Dad%20M
ag%20Web.pdf">https://jeffgorman.uk/static/pdf/Dad%20Mag%20Web.pdf> and I
have some hard copies left in any galoots would like one.

Thanks again

Adam
