I think the exterior is generally a bit lighter than the interior.  Here
are a couple of shots of the side and a drawer, twice.

Looking at the face shot of the drawers, you can see the color variability,
the link above is the darkest drawer..  Both interior and exterior are
finished pretty much the same, approximate color plus shellac on top.

There may have been some sun fading of the exterior.
