Personally, I think the LV blades are better than the Stanley originals.  I feel
I can get a better edge on them than the Stanley's.

Unless you luck into a cheap Stanley one or really want to go original I think
the LV are the better choice.

and replacement blades/cutters are very few and are priced like hen's teeth.  My
cutter is the pointed variety. I'd like to have a single edge 1/2" blade but
those I've seen on offer are priced too rich for my blood.  I can get one from
LV for ~$16 plus S&H.  Does anyone know of a better source?  There's no way I'll
pay twice as much for a cutter as I paid for the plane with cutter.
