Hi Frank:
Consider converting a couple of beyond-reasonable-repair wooden levels----
there's a lot of good wood in them--bleach the lightest one and ebonize the
other.---they're dirt cheap around here. I mean at my house. Bring a dime, I'll
get you half a dozen.
Hope this helps---

Subject: [OldTools] Winding sticks
Since we are in the throes of Winding Stick building......
I thought I might ask....
I have always seen these as 2 pieces of identical species wood, with sometimes
and inlay of lighter wood ( or ivory) on one of them.....
Has anyone tried to make a set from 2 species of wood with different colors? As
in Maple and walnut ..... one light , the other dark?.. rather than the inlay
...?
Was it a successful set?
