Like Sheriff Buford T. Justice said "You can think about it but DON'T
you do it."
It's fiberglass not wood. My guess is that you will set up a stress
fracture that will propagate through the handle in not to long.
Use an epoxy.
Later on when it fails, as all handles do, you can remove the epoxy by
soaking the ax head in boiling water.
It won't remove it, but it'll soften it so you can scrap it away easily
