To recap where things stand after a mix of on- and off-list responses
that have gotten somewhat intertwined, many thanks to Anne Watson, Tom
Holloway and Frank Sronce for providing numerous photos, descriptions
and measurements, and even an offer of a wooden model for what is
properly known as a "rule gauge" according to the Stanley Marsh manual.

Other parts, such as the "rule" itself, "low clamp," and miscellaneous
thumb screws and thrust washers were also brought to light at various
points along the way.

Evidently all these components are the ones that turn up missing the
most often.
