I recently got a 100 foot 14 ga extension cord in brand new condition
for $3 at an estate sale. One of the plug's prongs had been broken off
so they thought it was worthless. I bought a replacement plug for
about $3 and installed it. All of my extension cords have been
acquired this way. Used old tools to replace the plug, too!

The general public has no clue about any kind of repair.
