Raw linseed oil has been used traditionally. Boiled linseed oils dries
out quickly to form a film and it is thought that it would not penetrate
the wood to any great extent. Raw linseed oil takes a while to dry in
conditions of medium to high humidity and the addition of some mineral
turps to the raw linseed oil speeds up the drying process.
