I'm afraid I don't know what this is, but I have a question. It
looks like the spiral action on this driver is created by a spiral-shaped
bead or tongue on the shaft (rather than a spiral groove a la Yankee).
I know I've not seen one like this before. How's the spiral attached
to the shaft? I'm wondering if it just wraps around and is fastened
at the ends, or if it's solidly attached to the shaft all along its
length.

Thanks,

Norm in Fort Collins
