Don,

Welcome to the porch. What I enjoy here is the nuggets of information about
how to use, clean and sharpen the tools that I seem to want to bring home.
They have helped me to progress from an uncertain amateur to a somewhat more
confident amateur. I still have to allocate time and wood for the
inevitable mistakes.

Your comment about your sons--my dad had two sons too, and lots of tools.
>From the time I can remember he always had a workbench and tools for us.
Including a vise. Ours were really oldies, painted bright colors so they
could be found easily when we left them outside. I spent a lot of happy
time down in our basement working on my projects.

The side effect was that it (mostly) kept us out of his tools. I know some
of his screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers were fair game, and when we needed
a sharp chisel his got "borrowed" but most of his tools weren't disturbed.

Have some happy times with those guys, and give 'em room to grow.
