I went to a living estate sale two weeks ago, and found some jewelers and other misc tools. Any comments on the extruding machine, or anything else pictured? Notr the grooves on the side of the rolls. These were used to roll wire of different sizes. My guess on the card broaches is clockmakers tools. Dale |

Jesse, The "extrudeing machine" you found is a rolling mill and is used by jewelers to reduce the size of wire or thickness of sheet metal. A typical new one is shown at:http://www.ottofrei.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1 The "card broaches" are also a common jewelers tool used to clean up hinge joints and other areas. The card broaches are sold for clockwork and haven't changed much in centuries. Traditionally they are used to install bushings and to open the holes in the bushings to match the wheel pivots. They can be used for other things but perform poorly on ferrous materials.
