Okay, I know I've seen it mentioned, but I can't remember
and can't find it in the archives: who used the anvil logo
on their chisels? If the name is on the mark somewhere, I
can't see it; I can only make out the anvil and "cast steel".

     thanks,

Here's a better description, now that I've got a chisel in
front of me and I'm not going from memory: The anvil has
"warranted" underneath, "trade" to the left, and "mark" to
the right. No "cast steel" anywhere (sorry for the red
herring). Inside the anvil it looks like "R" and "T".

 thanks again,
 Kevin

This could be Riverside Tool. I think they were remarketers, ala
Craftsman etc. I have a no. 3 sized plane with that mark on the tapered
iron.

That's about all I remember about the mark, but Riverside has been
discussed before and may be mentioned in PTAMPIA.

I suspect there's been more than one, but the one I'm most familiar
with is Ward & Payne, whose logo is a pair of crossed hammers
above an anvil.

Excellent tools, and they made (or factored...) virtually
every tool you've heard of.
