194625 J D Thompson <jdthompsonca@s...> 2009‑08‑13 Anvil mark on chisel
A friend gave me 3 nice bevel edge paring chisels =A0yesterday, a 5/8"
Keen Kutter, a 3/4" Keen Kutter, and a 1" chisel marked with an anvil,
the words, "Trade Mark" straddling the base of the anvil, and then the
word, "WARRANTED" underlining it all.=A0Does anybody recognize this
mark? =A0I had to grind a full 1/4" off the end of each chisel because
of the damage done to them, but the sockets were pretty decent,
requiring only some filing of the flare caused by pounding.I'm in the
process of making handles for them. Pictures when they are done.

The DAT is pretty scarce on Anvils in Marks

Riverside Tool Co (2) used these (Riverside Tool Co / New York //R.T.
Co) words in an anvil figure Only reference to anvil in a mark.

So, post 1900, or non American made.

And apparently the OCR software used to digitize did not like the
il combination in Anvil, it made two words out of it. Upper Case
ANVIL was fine.

Perhaps Ward & Payne (English); their chisels are very common, at least in
this part of the world.
