50740 "Brandon Wheat" <dus_bin@H...> 1998‑09‑30 BIO(should be "free tool-where's the line?")
Hey Galoots,
I guess I'm guilty of being a "no-post" but the only excuse I'll offer
is sheer laziness.
I'd rather talk tools than talk about me.
One of the first posts I ever did was actually what I considered my bio.
It was a long drawn oot tale of how mine best friends granfather
unofficially apprenticed me from ages 11 to 19 and how I became a hand
tool snob. Like many of you, once I got into p*wer tools, I bought LOTS
of them. Didn't tough my hand tools for a few years.
Wasn't until my first GIT was born that I got back into handtools... had
to, you can't runa routah after the baby's in bed.
The first time using a hand plane after being away for a few years is
an epiphany. I must have planed 60 board feet that first night- all with
that dopey grin on my face.
I didn't really get into the old tools mind set until I stumbled onto
the porch. I was just a user... I'm now developing more a feel for the
history of the tools as well as an appreciation for the tool itself-
rather than just appreciating what it does...
Oh d*mn, isn't that what a C*llect*r is?
Anyhow been with SWRMBO (She who REALLY Must Be Obeyed) for 14 years
have 2 boys age 4 and
1 1/2. The 4 year has his own tool cabinet with appropriate sized tools,
2 eggbeaters (The MF#2 he bought on his own at a garage sale!) and loved
drilling sawing and hammering.
I'm a Senior analyst with Big Blue and live Winnipeg-the land of winter
hobbies.
I like making almost anything and I'm currently builing a treadle
powered scrollsaw witha 30"throat.
That's me life,
Cheers,
Jeff from Wpg
(hammer@a...)
