47627 "Carradine, David" <Carradin@a...> 1998‑08‑06 Here's my BIO
Greetings!

My name is Dave Carradine and I live in Blacksburg, Virginia, which is
located in a rather mountainous region in the south western part of the
state. I have been a serious woodworker for about 8 years and an old
tool fanatic for about 4 years. I got into wood while I was working on
my Bachelor's in Architecture at Virginia Tech. My first job upon
graduation in '94 (yeah it took me a while to wrap up that degree) was
at Blue Ridge Timberwrights, and that is where I fell in love with old
tools. Blue Ridge is a timber frame company and (IMO) employs some of
the finest craftsmen in the country. I left there in '96 to go back to
school, but I never lost the thrill of buying, restoring and using old
tools. My favorite tools are Millers Falls, Starrett and Buck Brothers.
I have soft spots for lots of others, but those are at the top of the
list. My other interests include playing guitar and bass, sketching and
photography. I just got my Master's degree in Structural Engineering
and I am starting working in a few weeks on my Ph. D. in Timber
Engineering. My dissertation is going to deal with timber frame
structures, so it will incorporate some of my passions. I'll see how I
can work the tools in there somewhere. I am very excited about being a
galoot and look forward to being a part of the group!
