40612 John Adams <JKADAMS@f...> 1998‑04‑01 Bio
Grew up in northern Florida (Jacksonville, Gainesville). Married with no
kids, 38 years old. Went to law school because I could't think of anything
better to do after getting a degree in English. And no, I don't know
anything about copyright law. After practicing in Tallahasse for a few
years I somehow wound up in the DC area working for the FCC.

I'm only just getting involved in woodworking again. As a kid, we pretty
much built everything we had. I think I was 10 year old at my school that
had roofed a house. In college, any furniture I needed I either built or
refinished. Over the years I guess I've refinished a few pieces of
furniture. My great-great grandmother's cedar chest is still waiting
though.

Last year I went through a few major changes that have really caused
me to reexamine my life and start focusing on things that are important
and meaningful. My father had a minor heart attack, I got married, and my
sister died. This last event has really caused me to look at things
differently. I've always beed interested in craft traditions and somehow
that just seemsa whole lot more meaningful than the work a day world. It
certainly seems like a good way to reverse the detachment from real life
that affects so many of my coworkers these days.

Anyway I'm starting to accumulate both the necessary tools and skills to
learn this craft. I'd eventually like to take a class with Mike Dunbar. Even
a franchised class. I'd love to hear from any one in the DC area who'd
like to get together for a beer (hey, I brewmy own) and some tool talk.
I'm especially interested in building my own bench.

Thanks John
