277371 Tony Seo 2023‑05‑20 Jacktown Blue Mountain Spring 2023 Flea Market Day 2
Today was the official kickoff for the Jacktown Blue Mountain Spring
2023 Flea Market.  I got there around 6:30 AM after a quick stop at
another flea market and the weather was cloudy and in the 50's.  There
were a lot more vendors there today than yesterday and things got busy
pretty fast.

It got misty there, but not raining thankfully.

There were a lot more vendors than yesterday, but the place wasn't
filled to capacity as in previous years.

Folks were setup in the exhibition areas as well.

I made a quick stop at the Saylorsburg Flea market which is on the way
to Jacktown and got that Spofford brace and a 1 1/4" corner close.
Pickings at Jacktown were steady, I got a Stanley SW bevel, an early
Disston bevel, an English screw lock pivot blade bevel, a small
turnscrew, an Osborne belt end punch, an Osborne oval or slot punch, a
Starrett No. 490 combination square protractor head, a Starrett depth
gage, a Bemis & Call patented saw set, a Sargent round leather belt
pliers, and a couple of cobbler's lasting pliers.

I had promised myself not to overload the knapsack, but that didn't
happen..sigh.  There is an Emir jointer's mallet, a big burl stone
cutter's mallet, a 2 1/2 lb straight peen hammer head, that might have
some problems, a small saw setting wrest, a W Butcher No. 1 cooper's
adze head, a hand forged round groove tin seamer, a big C Brombacker NY
gimlet with a 2 tone rosewood handle, a jointer's hammer head, a hand
forged curved face blacksmith upset tool, and a short, but usable froe.

Let's just say that I have LOTS of work to done....

Tony (Day 2 in the bag, one more early morning, then I can sleep a little)

You KNOW you are an addict when you find yourself stopping at more than one flea
market in a day.

But, it's all right; you're among friends here. We've all got it.

That's nothing new.  For over 20 years now, when Saylorsburg is open
(April till the end of Oct, used to be the week before Thanksgiving), I
hit there first and then head over to the Orwigsburg flea market.

It used to be I could get some decent volume at Saylorsburg and then
over at Orwigsburg which is at the best 1/3rd of the size, I could
always find some really good tools, maybe not volume wise, but just real
good stuff.

Nowadays, it's crap shoot at both places, and it is a 100 mile round trip.

But I keep on keeping on, as the old hippie saying goes....

Tony (are we there yet?)
