277361 scottg <scottg@s...> 2023‑05‑19 fork
Well I am inconsolable. I have lost my fork.
Its been gone too many days to be merely misplaced. I am sure it was
accidentally thrown out with probably a stack of paper plates.

Last year I found a Perfect Handle dinner fork in one of my usual junk
haunts. Just one orphan.

Not one of the clumsy forks with wood overlay you see so often.
But an actual forged and inlay fitted perfect handle in table flatware.
It turned out to be just right in every way for my type. It fits, good
balance, sturdy construction. It's a Perfect Handle!!

Since the loss I have been researching and it turns out its a German
invention, the Japanese copied it and the Chinese are copying it now.

And the damn things are hot!  Popular I mean.
They sell for real money. Even the latest Chinese copies on Amazon.
The originals go dearly.

So, I can get more but I don't like paying that much,
and so far I haven't given in.

Wanted dead or alive.  High quality Perfect Handle dinner flatware.
Please be on the lookout.
They aren't very old. Somewhere a salvation goodwill habitat store has a
sack of them.
   yours scott

Scott,
We went to Brimfield last week. I know I saw some there. Next time we
go, you are on my list.

Scott,

Re: Accidental discard of fork.

The other day, the basket from my electric coffee percolator went missing under
similar circumstances. I had temporarily left the kitchen wastebasket in front
of the counter which holds the dish drain rack. Gravity being what it is, I'm
convinced that somehow the percolator basket marched downward into the trash!

I will keep my eyes open for that style of fork. I know I've seen them at local
fleas.

And, you've given me a perfect excuse to drive 3 miles to the Woodbridge Elks
Club Flea, which meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday!

Best Galootish Regards,
John Ruth

JR--

I know, right? We should all be pitching in to help this Grandstaff character
when he's down, because when he's UP, he does so much for us all. With that in
mind, what's your percolator basket look like?  How hard can it be?

                          all the best to you and to *all* galoots, everywhere;

Oh John no!
A fork is just a tiny touch of elegance lost.
But your coffee pot is a 5 alarm emergency!

   What do you use?
I use a classic West Bend stainless pot. I totally recommend them.
Makes coffee in 3 minutes flat and the important part is, it holds it
hot and sweet much longer than any drip pot I ever had.

Also apparently this is the first time I am sharing my kitchen on the
porch. I had to upload the image.

A junk hoarders kitchen. 1800's fruit jars in the window and 1800's
glass dishes in homemade glass front cabinets.......... more old junk
you can't see as well.
Might look like regular junk at first glance,
but each little piece if it is the pick of thousands of others I
either had, or could have had, that didn't measure up.
Never nervously spotless. Never dangerously messy either. haahaah

I keep a backup on the closet shelf, heaven forbid. (turn around 3 times
and spit)

I get how you feel about your fork. We grew up with a set of flatware that is
the best-balanced I've ever encountered. But I didn't realize how much I loved
the stuff until I moved away from home. At some point my parents bought new
flatware and gave me what was left of the stuff I grew up with. Several years
ago our household got bigger and we needed more pieces, so I turned to ebay.
Fortunately, it hadn't been "discovered" yet and I could get pieces at
reasonable prices. Eventually, other people figured out how nice the patterns
were and prices went up. However, I have a lifetime supply now, so it's all
good.
