Hi. I'm new to this type of site? group? format. I'll figure it out eventually
so I don't think I'll  need  a full instruction manual or a for dummies book but
how do I add photos to a post? Thanks , Tom

Welcome to the porch. Posts are plain text only, with no pics or 
attachments. When you join, you can add photos on the old Tools site, or 
link to wherever you prefer to store yr shared pics and documents. 
Follow the FAQ link below for everything you need to know.

   Yes once upon a time text needed to be just be plain, or it would 
clog up the tiny datastream.
  Pictures were almost unheard of.
I accidentally crashed the Porch on my first day with a picture.

Put your pix on any host and just post the url
