Happy Sunday Galoots near and far! Well remember last month when I dropped my veteran backsaw and broke the handle? I took your advise and repaired it and resharpened it and I'll retire it just to remember the lifetime of service it gave me. Meanwhile I needed a replacement. I could have bought someone else's saw. There are a lot of really great saws being made right now. But its not really my style. I had cut my thumb pretty badly and it was healing but taking its time. So in my dimished state I gathered some lonely saw parts I had laying around. A brass back from one old derelict saw. A handle from another and a saw plate from a 3rd. Whizzmo change-o I married them. haahah It worked but it was plain as a mud fence. The handle was so beat up I actually had to use stain :( I had to do at least a little something............ http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/saws/backsaw1a.JPG http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/saws/backsaw2.JPG I kind of liked this medallion. It was the best Warren and Ted I had available. I didn't want to use a Disston. Didn't want people confused hahaahaha http://users.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/images/saws/backsaw2.JPG Should make a decent knock around saw. yours scott -- ******************************* Scott Grandstaff Box 409 Happy Camp, Ca 96039 scottg@s... http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/sgrandstaff/ http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/hpages/index.html |

I've heard of frankenplanes over the years, but a frankensaw?!??! IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE! That's one dandy creation you have there, Scott. Dennis -----Original Message----- From: oldtools@g... |

No doubt folks have mentioned things like this before, but. .one frankensaw-ish item that followed me home from an auction a while back started life as the main body of a #55 and then, after losing many pieces/parts/screw-sockets/etc, had a strip of sawblade inserted into its "mouth" to end up as a stair-saw-like critter, with its sides functioning, basically, as depth-stops. Nichael [P.S. Needless to say, nowhere near as pretty as Scott's little rehabilitation project. -N] ---------------------------------------- From: "Dennis Heyza" |

Well done Scott. Love the bird standing on the medallion. A fine piece of work to confuse people down the road. MOP, just like your guitar neck trammel bar. Kirk On Sun, Oct 10, 2021 at 12:22 PM scottg |

Scott, the saw looks fantastic. I love the stylized bird. I don't recall seeing that on the other tools you've made. Is this new? Or have I not been paying close enough attention? Impressed in SF, Paul On Mon, Oct 11, 2021 at 7:03 AM Kirk Eppler via groups.io |

This is awesome! Very cool. Love your personal stamp. -- I'm a simple man. I like pretty dark-haired women and breakfast food. |
