271897 Tony Blanks <dynnyrne@i...> 2020‑10‑09 Stair Saws
Friends,

Given the continued interest in Stair Saws I was finally moved to go
down into the workshop and measure up a couple of E C Atkins and Co.
examples which came my way some time ago.  Neither seem to have done too
much work, nor to have been resharpened: the tooth points are all in a
line (no 'cows and calves') and the tooth pitch and form is constant
from heel to toe.

The 10" saw is 10ppi, the 8" saw has 11 ppi. Both are sharpened
cross-cut.  I have only ever used them as "push-cut" saws, because it
never occurred to me to do otherwise.  I can't see that it would even be
necessary to end-for-end the plate to use them in the pull mode, but if
it were to be so it would be easy to do that.

Not very exciting I know, just a couple more points.

Regards,
