269301 Anthony Seo 2019‑10‑07 FS: The Outpourings Of October List A
October is here, with it's shorter days and colder nights.  Got a good
run of fresh goods on here including some hand to find blacksmith items.

PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. It's
easier for me to ship items through there, especially First Class
ones.   Checks and money orders are still welcome.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay.  Prices do not include shipping.  All items are
shipped with Delivery Confirmation. Insurance, unless it is a big order
or a very fragile item is optional. Just let me know. Also, I am
shipping a lot more stuff via First Class mail. There will be a small
amount added to the shipping cover the cost of the padded mailer. I
don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

after that it's good other than some frosting and a few dots.  The iron
body has some frosting on the back and the front.  The edge will need
some work.  The socket is good.  The maple handle is the original one.
That is good other than some stains.  This ain't pristine but it sure

Underhill Edge Tool Co Coopers Adze.   Measuring 9 3/8" overall, the
head is 8 1/2 long (straight across), the face is 1 1/4" high, 1 3/16"
wide, the edge is 2 1/2" wide, the steel bit is 1 7/8" deep, and this
weighs 2 lbs 9 3/4 oz unboxed.  The mark is faint but there is enough to
make the call.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The head
has some patina going.  The face is clean other than some small chips
around the edge and a few dings.  The edge has some chipping and will
need some work.  The handle is original as is the bolt.  That does
remove but it takes some work to get it in and out.  The handle has a
void on the one side and a check at the end but it's solid.  This ain't
pretty or perfect but these guys rarely area.  $45.00

Darling Brown & Sharpe 3 Inch Machinist Try Square.  Measuring 3 7/8"
overall in length, 2 5/8" high, and this weighs 4 1/4 oz unboxed.
Darling, Brown & Sharpe were in business from 1866 until 1892, when
Darling left the building.  This is in decent condition and was
cleaned.  The rule has frosting on the front or signed side and very
lightly scratched user initials.  The back of the blade has some very
light pitting and a user name as well.  THe edges and corners are good.
The handle has some light pitting on the inside face and the outside but
the edges on that are good as well.  This is true according to my
reference square here.  This ain't minty but considering that it is at
the least, 127 years old and probably a whole lot older than that, well
it sure ain't bad. $30.00

they weigh 1 lb 1 oz unboxed.  These are in reasonably good condition
and were cleaned.  The blades are good on both sides other than some
staining, a little frosting, and a few dots.  The edges will need a
touch-up.  The handles are good as well. The middle one does have a
check under the ferrule and there are the usual dings and stains.  I
gotta say that putting together a set of these guys in this kind of
shape, sure ain't getting any easier to do.  $45.00

lighter stuff on the other side. The tip is good.  The handle has some
scuffs, scratches, and dings but it's solid with no cracks that I can

the edge to the start of the handle, 3/16" wide across the inside of the
sweep, this is 9 1/2" overall, the lower one is 5 1/16" from the edge to

is 9 1/4" overall, these are No 39 60 degree V sweeps, and they weigh 5
1/4 oz unboxed.  These are in decent condition and were cleaned.  The
inside of the sweep on the smaller one has some spots of frosting but
nothing too bad.  The larger one does have an area of pitting right up
at the edge on the inside for the first 1/4" but after that it's good
other than some frosting.  The edges will need some work.  The backs
also have some frosting.  The handles have some dings, and a few tiny
bits of paint but they have most of the original finish.  This ain't
pristine but they are quality tools at a fair price.  $30.00

decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some overall light patina.
The jaws have a little chipping at the tips but the teeth are good on
the inside without much wear. The joint has a little wiggle.  The hammer
poll is good other than a tiny chip off of the one side.  The one handle
is chipped a little at the one end.  This ain't pristine but these

Stanley

Stanley Rule & Level No 12 1/4 Veneer Scraper.  This weighs 2 lbs 8 1/2
oz unboxed.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The sides are
good other than some frosting.  The sole has a patch of light pitting
and some frosting.  There are scratch marks on both sides of the mouth
but it's not cracked.  The japanning is original and about 80% present.
There is some funky on there.  The cap works and the blade angle
adjuster works as well.  This will need a blade.  The rosewood handle
has a chip off of the turning where the screw is, but I put it back on
with the pretty side up.  There are some dings but it's solid.  All the
screws work and were oiled. This ain't the prettiest but these guys are
sure few and far between.  $100.00

is faint.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The
blade has some staining and a few frosted spots but nothing too bad.
The edges and corners are good. The rosewood handle is good save for a
few dings but it is missing the brass star.  This is not a very common

Stanley No 81 Cabinet Scraper Plane.  This weighs 1 lb 12 3/4 oz
unboxed.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned (it might not look
like it, but trust me, it was!)  There is some overall patina. The
plating on the tops of the handles is present but a little rough.  There
is a small chip off of the rosewood sole, along with some scratches and
wear, but it's not completely worn out.  The screw for the blade clamp
and the rod for the clamp head both work and were oiled.  The screws on
the sole also remove.  This will need a blade.  Minty picked up and
moved out of town on this guy a while back, but it will get the job
done.  $28.00

1896 for the process used to make this tool.  This is in as found
condition and was not cleaned.  There is some wear to the plating and
some light patina on the base.  The clear level vial is good and the
protective cover rotates.  The vial assembly does wiggle a little.  The
base is good other than the wear and patina. This ain't minty but
considering that it's over 100 years old, well it sure ain't that bad.

Stanley No 65 Boxwood Marking Gage.  This weighs 4 3/4 oz unboxed. As
you can see, somebody drilled a hanging hole through the mark but I know
what it is.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The beam has
some stains and wear at the end where the tip is, but it's straight and
all the rulings are readable.  The point is good and the screw works.
The head also has some stains and wear.  The locking screw does it's
job.  This ain't pristine but it will get the job done.  $17.00

Hudson Handsome 7/8 Inch Wheelwright Corner Chisel.  Measuring 12 1/16"

one side is 7/8" wide, the other is 15/16", this is 16 1/2" overall, and
this weighs 1 lb 6 1/2 oz unboxed.  I have no information on this maker
other than to say that other edge tools with this mark have shown up.

pitting on both sides of the back up by the edge and some light spots on
the way down.  The edge is fairly good.  The inside does have some
pitting and patina.  The socket also has some pitting and some dings.
The handle is old and might be the original one one.  That is in fair
condition, with some checks, stains, and wear, but it feels solid enough
to use.  I did not have it off of the tool.  This ain't pretty or
perfect but it will get the job done.  $35.00

good as is the rest of the blade.  The handle is also good and I did
give that a coat of wax.  This is a quality tool that will get the job
done.  $19.00

blade is 1 11/16" wide, and this weighs 6 1/2 oz unboxed. Marked as
shown.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The finish is

didn't want to come off.  The sole has visible machining marks but it's
good otherwise.  The blade is clean other than some staining and there
is lots to work with.  The edge will need a sharpening.  The cap and
screw are good.  This ain't the fanciest but it will get the job done.

Dunlap 8 Inch Draw Knife Or Drawknife.  Measuring 15 1/2" overall, the
blade is 8 1/8" long, 1 3/16" wide across the edge, and this weighs 1 lb
1 oz unboxed.  Dunlap was brand name used by Sears on one of it's tool
lines, this also has a maker mark of BV, although I can't find who that
is.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The steel
area of the back of the blade has a few small and very light dots of
patina but it's good for the most part.  The edge has a couple of tiny
dings but it won't take much to get back to shaving sharp.  The top has
some dings and I did take some mushrooming off of the back.  The iron
frame and front have some frosting.  The handles have some dings to the
finish and a few tiny bits of paint that didn't want to come off but
they are solid and on tight.  The ferrules and end caps also have some
light patina.  This ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad either and good
ones sure ain't been showing up much of late.  $35.00

overall (straight across), the blade is 5 1/16" long, 3/4" wide at
center, 7/8" at the ends, and this weighs 3 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed
as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is
some frosting and dots of pitting on the face. The edge will need a
little work.  The tangs are good.  This ain't pristine but these bigger
ones rarely show up.  $15.00

Machinist Tools

L S Starrett Machinist 12 Inch 3 Piece Combination Square.  This weighs
1 lb 10 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonable condition and was
cleaned.  The rule has some stained and frosted spots along with user
initials, but nothing too bad and all the rulings are readable.  The
edges and corners are crispy.  The square head has some wear to the
finish and the same user initials and shop number marked on it.  The
vertical machined face has a couple of light spots of pitting down by
the slot but it's clean for the most mark and the miter face is good
other than some staining.  This even has the scribe.  The protractor is
a No. 490 bevel edge.  The face on that is good, the finish has a little
wear and some funky spots. The locking screws and tabs are good on both
and the screws for the protractor head both work.  Both of the clear
levels are good to go.  This ain't minty but for a used tool, well it
sure ain't bad. $65.00

the head, and this weighs 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good
condition and was not cleaned.  There is a little wear and some light
scuffs but nothing too bad.  All the rulings and tables are readable and
the edges are good.  This is a neat and handy tool to say the least.
(This might vary a little from the picture).  $14.00

Working & Collectible Tools

Emmert Turtleback Patternmaker Vise To Restore.  This is in as found,
fresh from the shop condition.  There is a bunch of saw dust residue and
shop patina from decades of use.  The front jaw wiggles and it looks
like the inside of the front jaw has some chipping around the hole for
the shaft, but I can't say for sure.  The hinge on the mounting bracket
doesn't move but I didn't really nuts with it.  The main screw does
work.  This is missing the tilt bracket and rod but most of the are.
This is what it is but for the money you ain't gonna do much better.
This is PICKUP only here at my shop here in Nesquehoning PA. $265.00

Two L S Starrett No 470 Framing Square Stair Gage Fixtures.  They weigh
2 oz unboxed.  These are in good condition and were not cleaned.  There
is a little patina and wear but nothing too bad. The edges are good and
the screws travel the full distance.  These ain't minty but they sure
ain't got the price tag of a new set. Look it up.  $17.00

Chapin-Stephens Co No 62 Brass Bound 2 Ft Folding Rule.  This weighs 2
3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and was not
cleaned.  The outside is a little darkened but has almost all of the
original finish.  The brass has darkened as well.  The inside also has
the original finish.  There is a little chipping around the pin holes
and the inside pins are missing.  The side pin is present. THe joints
are a little loose.  This ain't pristine but considering the age of this
guy, well it sure ain't bad.  $18.00

Four Gimlet Tip Bits. The upper one is a 5, (these are in 32nds of a
inch), there is no size mark on this one, the next one is a 6, the next
one is an 8, the bottom one is a 10, and they weigh 4 1/4 oz unboxed.
All are in good shape, all were lightly cleaned but they were not bad to
start with. There is a little patina up in the grooves but nothing too
bad.  The edges feel good but that doesn't mean that they won't need a
touch-up.  None of these are notched for a bitstock.  These ain't
perfect but they will get the job done. $18.00

C S Osborne Patent 1877 Leather Draw Gage Or Gauge.  This weighs 15 oz
unboxed.  James Potter of Chicago, IL was granted Pat. No. RE7,796 on
Jul. 17, 1877 which was a reissue of his original Pat. No. 180,633, Aug.
1, 1876.  This was made by C S Osborne in Newark NJ.  This is in fair
condition and was cleaned by someone else. There is some pitting on the
beam, mainly on the underside.  The handle also has some pitting up
around the head.  The screws both work. The blade is bent and I ain't
going to try and straighten it out, but that is easily replaced.  This
ain't pretty or perfect but it will get the job done. $24.00

Three Tool Rule Co 1907 Patent Ruler Attachment.  Measuring 2 7/8" long,
1 1/2" high, and this weighs 1 oz unboxed.  Robert Campbell of
Elizabeth, NY was granted Pat. No. 867,556 on Oct. 1, 1907 for the
design of this tool which was made by the Three Tool Rule Co. of Newark,
NJ.  This is nifty attachment for a folding rule that allows it to be
used as a depth gage, try and mitre square.  Neat eh?  This is in as
found condition and was not cleaned.  There is a little funky on the
inside of the body.  The outer edges ain't pretty but they aren't bad.
The brass cam lever that locks this to the rule works.  This ain't minty
but these guys do not show up very often, at least around here.  $30.00

user initials.  The tip is good other than a little wear.  The handle
scales have some chipping at the tops on both sides and some wear, but

edge is 1 7/16" high, and this weighs 3 lbs 6 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
There is some scaling and roughness left over from when this was made
but nothing too bad.  The striking face is good. I did rough in a new
edge because of some chipping. That might need a little fine tuning but
it's better that is was.  The punched eye is good.  All in all, this is
a good tool that is ready to go. $20.00

weighs 3 lbs 9 unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some patina overalll , but that's to
be expected. The edge is good and was dressed recently.  There is a
visible forge weld seam on the socket but it's solid with no cracks.
The handle is original to the tool. There are some dings, stains, and
some chipping at the end, but it's on tight.  These guys sure have been

Vintage Watchmaker Jewelers Bending Pliers.  Measuring 5 7/8" long, the
jaws are 1 3/8" wide, and this weighs 6 oz unboxed.  Marked as shown.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There is some frosting and
staining on the arms.  The jaws are good and close up tight and flush.
The edges of the jaws aren't flat but that's due to the cross hatching
on the faces.  The "through the center" joint is good with almost no
play.  This originally had a spring to open the jaws, but like a lot of
them that I see, that was removed.  Also the clamp for the arms is MIA.
This ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad and it is a quality tool.  $16.00
