A couple of weeks ago, we were gathering together the means to put in
our garden - trowels, seeds, gloves, pruners, etc. Frustrated at the
time it took to find everything, my wife said, "The problem is that I
have no place too keep my gardening stuff."
The proverbial light bulb lit up, and I spent every moment when I wasn't
conscripted for gardening in the shop. The result was a cabinet to hold
her seeds and small hand tools. Being out of work at the moment, I
determined to make it out of whatever I had on hand. That meant it was
made from four different kinds of wood, so paint was needed to hide its
mongrel ancestry.
I presented it to her on Saturday, and she was pleased. The highest
praise came when my great-grandson visited yesterday and saw it for the
first time.
"You /made /that?" he said. "It looks like it could have come from /Ikea/!"
