You misunderstand him. Ed has writed so many wrongs, he should be sainted.
Ed is quite worthy of such a plumb position.

I had the same problem with every box of nails...most of them were pointing
in the wrong direction!

I actually had a similar pile a few years ago. A lot of my older, less-quality
levels aren't accurate for determining when something is plumb. So I started
marking them with a 'W' for 'wrong' and at one time I had a small pile sitting
there.

Looking back now, I can't believe I missed the visual pun! Perhaps it's early
onset dementia.

All my wooden levels are off as well. So I use them all and take an
average, while murmuring something about wisdom of the crowd.

When I apprenticed to a great carpenter in the early 70’s (his name was Joe
Shingle - no lie), he told us to just save those nails to be used on the other
side of the house.
