I bought a Sandusky horned smoother recently for $35 from Josh Clark (

I'm wondering about the wisdom of changing the plane's role in life from
smoother to scrub.  The mouth is about 1/2" wide.  The iron is good: 3/16"
thick at the rear of the bevel (bezel, Jeff) and 1 3/4" wide.  Lots of life
left in the iron.  It's a Sandusky laminated blade.  I would only regrind
the blade to an appropriate radius and not otherwise modify the plane.

Suggestions, compliments, disparaging remarks?
