263481 Chuck Taylor 2017‑10‑10 Bio Update: Chuck Taylor
Gentle Galoots,

Tis the season to be thinking about Galootaclaus, and Galootaclaus always likes
to look for a Galoot's Bio when deciding what to send to that Galoot. So, I'd
like to encourage all Galoots to update their Bios. I looked up my own, and
since it was 11 years old, I decided that I should follow my own advice and
submit an updated Bio.

I am now 71 years old and still live in Everett, WA, USA. That's just north of
Seattle. I served as a naval officer for 20 years and finished my working career
in the software industry. SWMBO and I have been married for 49 years and have 3
grown children and 3 grandchildren. I'm a member of PNTC (that's Pacific
Northwest Tool Collectors). PNTC meetings are a great place to find old tools.

I finally finished my bigleaf maple workbench in 2015, which makes it much
easier to work wood with hand tools than it was before I had a proper workbench.

Like most Galoots, I enjoy acquiring, fettling, sharpening, and using old tools.
Lately I have been limiting my acquisitions due to space constraints. About the
only tools I admit to collecting are chisels by Charles Taylor's Sheffield Tools
Limited. Thanks to Peter McBride for introducing me to my namesake toolmaker.

I have taken a 1-week course in making wooden planes, Krenov-style, and am
signed up for a 2-day course in making hand-cut dovetails. Despite having been
at it off and on for a number of years, I still consider myself to be a neophyte
when it comes to working wood.

I've managed to meet up with a handful of Galoots in person, but I also enjoy
the email friendships with other Galoots that have grown over the years.

Grateful to be here,

Chuck Taylor

Everett, WA, USA
