From from turtlenecks to t-shirts in the span of a few days, that's how
this month has been going. Rain or rumours of rain ain't been doing
much for the flea market vendor attendance either. But as always, I
managed to source some good items. Some collectible and lots of user
goodies as well.

I'd really prefer a check for payment for all items. On items less than
$25 (not including shipping) no PayPal. On combined purchases totaling
over $25 then PayPal is okay. This is for the USA buyers only. The out
of country folks, PayPal will be accepted for all purchase, unless you
want to send me a US denominated money order, then that is fine. Sorry
for the inconvenience but I'm just trying to cut the costs down a bit here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Chaplin Patent No 1203 Corrugated Smoother Plane. The sole is 8 3/8"
long, the blade is 1 3/4" wide, and this weighs 2 lbs 1/2 oz unboxed. I
believe this is a Chaplin’s Improved Patent No 1203, made by Tower &
Lyon, but there are no markings to that effect. The only marks I can
find are 3 & 4 cast into the underside of the cap and the front of the
frog. This is in reasonably good condition and was lightly cleaned
(this definitely was not a rust rescue). Note this is straight, any
bending you see is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks
would think that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. Both sides
have some light dings, the left one (looking from the rear) has some
light scratches, the right one has a more noticeable one down by the
sole but it's not cracked. The sole has some stained spots and
scratches. The japanning is original and is 95%. There are a few tiny
bits of paint. The cap is good other than some tiny spots and dots on
the plating. The blade has some light stuff on the exposed areas. The
cutting face is good other than some scratches and dings to the edge.
The blade will need a sharpening. The depth adjuster lever works. The
knob is wood. That has some dings and tiny bits of paint. I did have
that off. The tote is the hard rubber one (getting to the READ part
here). That has an old repair at the front on the base, but the rest is
good. I did not have the tote off the tool. This ain't minty but few
of these guys are and it sure ain't got the price of a minty one either.

Sharp Stuff

Five Small Carving Tools. There is a 1/16" gouge, a 1/8" bent V gouge,
a 1/8" straight gouge, a 5/16" bent gouge, a 5/16" skew chisel, and they
weigh 2 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. These are in used
but reasonably good condition and were cleaned. There are some small
spots of frosting and staining but nothing too bad. The edges will need
a touch-up in the sharpening department. The graver or engraving tool
style handles are all good. I wouldn't want to try knocking out a totem
pole with these guys but for doing the occassional close up detail work
they will be fine. $16.00

Buck Bros 1/2 Inch Carving Tool Chisel. Measuring 5 1/8" from the edge
to the top of the handle, the blade is 4" long, this is 9 7/16" overall,
and this weighs 3 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. The front of the blade has some dings and scratches. The back
was never finished off bright to start with. This is sharpened to a
knife edge, that's how these guys were made. The handle has some dings
and stains. There is a user name stamped in one side, some light red
initials that didn't want to come of, and some red writing on the
striking end. The handle is solid though. This ain't pretty or perfect
but it will get the job done. $15.00

Pfeil Swiss No 2 Sweep 3/8 Inch Carving Tool Gouge. Measuring 4 3/8"
from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is a hair under 3/8"
wide across the outside of the sweep, this is 9 3/8" overall, and this
weighs 6 oz unboxed. Marked as shown. This is in reasonably good
condition. The blade wasn't cleaned at all, but I did try to pretty up
the handle a touch. The blade is clean inside the sweep and there is
lots there to work with. Somebody got a little creative with making
their mark on the handle. There is a small flat spot where the guy
wrote something and those double lines that he inked in with something
green. The handle is good otherwise except for some light dings and
wear. There is a tiny brad in the striking end, why?, I have not a
clue. This ain't minty but the blade what you are buying this tool for
and that is as good as they get. $19.00

Buck Bros 3/16 Inch Carving Tool Gouge. Measuring 4 3/16" from the edge
to the top of the handle, the blade is 3/16" wide across the outside of
the sweep, this is 9" overall, and this weighs 1 3/4 oz unboxed. This
is in good shape and was cleaned. The blade is good both on the inside
and outside of the sweep other than a few tiny stained spots. The
original handle is good, that was stripped and waxed because of some
paint issues. This ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad. $17.00

Skew Edge Chip Carving Knife. Measuring 1 15/16" from the tip to the
top of the handle, 6 7/16" overall, the blade is 9/16" wide (straight
across), and this weighs 1 1/4 oz unboxed. Marked as shown. This is in
used but good condition and was not cleaned. The blade has a few scuffs
but nothing too bad. The edge is good but could stand a touch-up. The
handle is good other than a couple of light dings and the blade is in
tight. This ain't the fanciest but it will get the job done. $14.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/chipknife0601.jpg

AMT Chip Carving Knife Tool Set. This comes with four knives, the case,
and this all weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in lightly used but
good condition and were not cleaned. There is nothing much to fuss
about with these guys other than a little staining on the brass
ferrules. The blades are all good and were sharpened recently. The
case is good as well. These ain't top of the line tools but they ain't
the worst ones out there either. $30.00

Sampson 1/4 Inch Paring or Bevel Edge Firmer Chisel. Measuring 8 1/16"
from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 5 3/4" long, this
is 12 1/4" overall, and this weighs 3 1/2 oz unboxed. Sampson was a
brand name used by the Union Hardware Co. This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. The back is good other than a few rough
spots on the side edges. The rest of the blade is clean as well other
than the user name scratch marked on both sides. The blade does have a
very slight bend looking from the top. I did clean some mushrooming off
of the socket but there still is plenty there. The handle is a
replacement. That has a bit of dark grain on the one side but it's not
cracked. This ain't minty but it will get the job done. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/may/chisel0502.jpg

Late Model Stanley No 720 3/8 Inch Paring Or Bench Chisel. Measuring 7
13/16" from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 5 7/16"
long, this is 11 9/16" overall, and this weighs 4 1/2 oz unboxed. This
just has Stanley, Made In USA on the ferrule without the model number.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The back does have some
spots of light pitting and frosting but nothing too bad until you get
down by the socket. The rest of the blade has more of the same. The
socket is good and was never struck. The handle is a replacement and
was refinished. That ain't perfect but it's better than it was. This
ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad either. $30.00

Working Stuff

Walden No 4054 Starwheel 3/8 Inch Ratchet Wrench. Measuring 2 7/8"
across and this weighs 11 oz unboxed. This is in used but good
condition and was not cleaned. There is a little wear to the finish on
the top but nothing too bad. The ratchet is good and works in both
directions. That could stand a drop of oil but I'll leave that in your
capable hands. I gotta say that this a neat tool and one that I sure
don't see too many of. Obviously, it ain't for taking off lug nuts but
it could be handy at the right place and time. $19.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/wrench0604.jpg

Stanley No 25 6 Inch Cabinetmakers Sliding Adjustable Bevel Square.
This weighs 2 3/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. The blade has some light patina but nothing too bad and the
edges and corners are good. The rosewood handle has some dings and
there are a couple of small scorch marks on the one edge. The locking
screw does it's job with grace and style. This ain't pristine but it
will get the job done. $17.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/square0603.jpg

Craftsman 10 Inch Sweep Brace By Millers Falls. This weighs 3 lbs 6 oz
unboxed. This is a Craftsman marked Millers Falls No. 1910 which was
made between 1971 and 1981. This has the Lion chuck which accepts both
square tang and regular round shaft twist bits. How about that, eh?
This is in reasonably good condition. The only real cleaning was to get
rid of some rusting on the chuck and there is some plating loose on the
end of the chuck. The chuck and jaws are good. The ratchet works in
both directions and the locked position and was oiled. That has a
little play but nothing too bad. The grip and pad are wood and they
both have most of the original finish. There are some dings on both and
the pad has a little paint that refused to come off without a fight.
Both spin freely. This ain't minty but these Lion chuck braces are
considered by many to be one of the better braces out there. $30.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/brace0602.jpg

Stanley No 180 18 Inch Brace Auger Bit Extension. Measuring 18 3/16"
long and this weighs 13 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in good condition and
was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The
chuck is good (I did try it with a bit) and it looks tight and holds the
bit straight. The tang has some light dings on the edges but nothing
too bad there. This is a handy tool to have around. $17.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/bracetool0603.jpg

Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Slag Chipping Hammer Head. Measuring 7
5/8" long, the vertical edge is 1 3/16" high, the flat edge is 1 1/4"
wide, and this weighs 1 lb 5 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is the usual patina
found on these tools. This does have steel bits on a wrought iron
body. There is void on the underside where the flat bit meets the iron
but it ain't cracked. The edges aren't too bad, I cleaned up the
vertical one a bit, the other one was dressed before it got here, but
they will need a little work if you want to shave your hee-haw with it.
The punched eye has a little flaking on the inside looking from the
bottom but it's solid otherwise. This ain't pretty but then neither are
you and this is a well made tool. $17.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/blacksmith0602.JPG

Long Hand Forged Compass Or Divider. Measuring 11" long and this
weighs 6 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light patina
including some scuffs left over from when this was made. The 3 finger
(2+1) joint is good. The screw and wing nut look to be a more recent
addition but it does it's job. This is a neat tool and it will get the
job done. $18.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/divider0602.jpg

Uncommon L S Starrett No 44 Double Arm Caliper. Measuring 6 3/8" when
closed and this weighs 3 oz unboxed. I'm not sure when Starrett stopped
making these guys but there is no mention of it in my 1953 catalog.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There are some spots of
light pitting on the upper arms and the legs. The joints are good, the
one is a little stiff. This ain't pristine but considering that I
rarely see more than one of these guys every couple of years, well that
should tell you how uncommon they are. $24.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/machinisttool0607.JPG

Stanley No 9 1/2 12-020 Adjustable Mouth Block Plane. This weighs 1 lb
7 oz unboxed. Made in the USA. This is in used condition and was
cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you see is because of
camera lens distortion, although why folks would think that I would sell
a bent plane is beyond me. The sides are good other than the factory
machining marks. The sole has more of the same. The japanning is
original and 98% good on the body. The finish on the cap has some dings
but most of it is here. The blade is clean on both sides. There is a
chip on the edge but the blade will need a sharpening anyways. All the
screws work and were oiled. This ain't minty but it will get the job
done. $25.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/stanley09120601.jpg

Sandvik Coromant No 713-302 Big Radius & Corner Gage or Gauge. The body
is 4 15/16" long, the blades are 4 1/8" in length (from the joint pin to
the edges), and this weighs 7 3/4 oz unboxed. This is in used but
reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. There are some scuffs
and wear but nothing too bad. There are 9 blades, each one has 4
gauges, some corner angles, but most are radius. Those are all good to
go. The front of the handle has a cut out area that is ruled in MM.
The back also has some numbers stamped and the top has a series of
graduated notches but no size markings. This what it is but it is a
well made and handy tool to say the least. $30.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/machinisttool0604.JPG

L S Starrett No 179 Machinist 6 Inch Thread Caliper. Measuring 5 11/16"
long (Starrett's idea of 6"), the tips are 3/8" wide, and this weighs 2
1/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
wasn't much in the way of patina, just the usual shop grime. The arms
have some frosting but nothing too bad. The joint and screw are good.
The tips were dressed at some point and they don't close completely
tight (the gap is like 1/32") which really won't affect anything unless
you are working one something really tiny. This ain't perfect but it
will get the job done. $17.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/machinisttool0605.JPG

L S Starrett No 237 Machinist Depth Gage or Gauge. This weighs 1 oz
unboxed. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The head is good
other than some light scuffs. The 6" No. 48 rule has some stains but
nothing too bad. The edges are good but the corners are worn a little.
The locking screw does it's job. This ain't pristine but it will get
the job done. $17.00
http://oldetoolshop.com/forsale/june/machinisttool0601.JPG

L S Starrett No 40 Machinist Screw Pitch Thread Gage or Gauge. This
weighs 1 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was not cleaned.
There are some scuffs and wear to the body. The blades have some scuffs
but all of them are present and the teeth are good. This ain't money or
pretty but it will do the job. #18.00

S V Tuck Split Nut Saw Screwdriver Bit For A Brace. Measuring 5" long,
about 3/8" wide across the outside of the tips, 3/16" across the inside,
and this weighs 1 3/4 oz unboxed. S. V. Tuck is listed as an edge tool
marker in Bridgewater, MA working from 1870 until 1871. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. The one tip is bent a little but that
won't affect this being used. The blade has some light pitting on the
front, the back is clean. The shaft also has some spots of light
pitting. The tang has some dings on the edges but there is plenty there
to grab with a brace chuck. This ain't pretty or perfect but these guys
sure ain't been showing up much at all of late. $17.00

Vintage French No 2 Cobblers Hammer. Measuring 10 1/8" overall, the
head is 5 11/16" long (straight across), the face is 1 7/16" in
diameter, the peen is 1 1/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 2 1/2 oz
unboxed. Marked as shown. This is in reasonably good condition and was
cleaned. The body has some light patina and there are some scuffs on
top of the eye from when the handle was fitted (not my doings by the
way). The face has some light dings but nothing too bad and the peen is
good. The handle is a recent replacement. I did give that a coat of
stain to pretty it up a bit. The head is on tight. This ain't minty
but these guys sure ain't been showing up much of late. $30.00

Five Nicholson 8 Inch Square Taper Smooth Cut Files. These are 8" from
the tip to the start of the tang, 10 1/8" overall, 3/16" square at the
tip, 5/16" at the end of the teeth, and they weigh 13 oz unboxed. These
are NOS, that's New Old Stock, and were not cleaned. Three of them are
clean, the one has a few small rust spots, and the last one a few more.
But it's not enough to cause any problems when these are used. You sure
ain't gonna walk into the local hardware store and buy these files like
these for this kinda price. $30.00

J Stevens A & T Co 6 7/8 Inch Machinist Outside Caliper. Measuring 6
7/8" long and this weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed. Joshua Stevens of Chicopee
Falls, MA was granted Pat. No, Pat. No. 377,868 on Feb. 14, 1888 for the
design of the joint used on this tool. This was made by the J. Stevens
Arms & Tool Co. also of Chicopee Falls, MA and was made somewhere
between 1888 and 1896, when the company was bought out and the new
owners focused on gun making. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned by someone else. There is some overall frosting and a few spots
of light pitting on the arms. Somebody put 2 drill marks on the one arm
for identification. There is some crusty up inside the joint. The
threads are a little bumpy but the nut travels the full distance. This
is missing the ball at the end of the screw no comment!) This ain't
minty but these guys sure have been few and far between of late. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/may/divider0504.jpg

Old Hand Forged Small Straight Jaw Blacksmith Tongs. Measuring 15 1/8"
long, the jaws are 7/8" deep, 1/2" wide at the tips, and this weighs 10
oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in good shape and was
cleaned. There is a little patina but nothing too bad. The jaws are
good and are lightly cross hatched on the insides. The joint is good
with just a little wiggle. The handles have some scuffs from when this
was made but they are good to go as well. This guy ain't for knocking
out horseshoes, but for small pieces like jewelry or gunsmithing it's
the one to have. $24.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/may/blacksmith0502.jpg

Early Forged Blacksmith 1 lb Plus Cross Peen Hammer. Measuring 12 3/8"
overall, the head is 4 9/16" long, the face is 3/4" high, 7/8" wide, the
peen is 1 1/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 2 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker, there is a user name lightly stamped on the handle.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The head is good
for the most part. Note the decorative file work on the edges. There
are some noticeable dings on the top and some light ones on the sides.
The face has some light dings, cut marks, and a few tiny chips around
the edge. The peen is good. There is a hole, about halfway between the
eye and the peen, why I have not a clue. The handle is the original
oval shaped one. That has some thin checks under the eye, and the usual
dings and stains but it's solid. The head wiggles a touch but it ain't
going anywhere. This guy does have some age to it, but it has made the
journey better than most. $22.00

G W Mount Patent Brass Head Magnetic Tack Hammer. Measuring 11 3/8"
overall, the head is 5 1/2" long, the one face is 1/2" in diameter, the
other one is 5/16", and this weighs 9 1/2 oz unboxed. George W Mount
was granted Pat. No. 2821222 on Jan 28, 1958 for the design of this
tool. The Pat. No. is mis-stamped but is common with these guys. This
is in used but good condition and was cleaned. There is a little patina
but nothing too bad. The head has some staining. The larger face has
some very light frosting and dings. That one is not magnetized. The
smaller is magnetized and is good. The handle is good and the head is
on tight. This ain't minty but few of these were purchased just to be
admired for their beauty. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/may/hammer0503.jpg

Old 5 oz Solid Brass Double Face Hammer Head. Measuring 3 1/4" long,
the one face is 1/2" in diameter, the other one is 1/2" wide, 7/16"
high, and this weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed. Marked as shown. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is the usual patina found on
these guys. I did clean some sharp mushrooming off of both faces and
dragged a file over the face as well. They both still have some dings
but they are better than they were. The eye is D shaped which is
different. The head was also pinned to the handle (which was pretty
rotten and not worth the effort to save). This ain't no picture of
perfection but these guys rarely are. $18.00

Collectible Stuff

Early Hand Forged Screwplate. Measuring 5 1/4" long, 1 3/16" wide at
the widest spot, and this weighs 2 oz unboxed. This is signed but I
can't read the mark. This is in decent condition for the age and was
cleaned. There is some pitting on both sides of the blade area. The
threads are good for the most part except for the very last hole by the
handle that has some pitting. The handle has some patina going as well.
This ain't pretty or perfect but these guys sure have been few and far
between of late. $23.00

18th Century Deep Round Cut Molding Plane. The body is 9 1/2" long, the
iron is 1 11/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 1/2 oz unboxed. The cut is
just about 180 degrees. Not signed as to the maker, there is a user
mark on the toe. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
Note this is straight, any bending you see is because of camera lens
distortion. The body has some stains and dings and there is a chip off
of the top edge of the shelf in front of the mouth. The mouth looks
like it was opened a little at some point. The sole has some scratches
and dings but nothing too bad. The wedge is good. The iron may be a
replacement, I can't say for sure. The cutting face has some light
pitting but most of that is away from the edge. This ain't minty but
for the age it sure ain't bad and these older planes have not been
showing much of late, at least around these here parts. $37.00

Vintage D G R M WW2 German Army Adjustable Wrench. Measuring 5" long
(with the jaws closed), the jaws are 13/16" deep, 1/4" wide at the tips,
and this weighs 9 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in reasonably good condition
and was cleaned. There are a few spots of light frosting and pitting on
the jaws but nothing too bad there. The insides are good and still show
the factory machining marks. The adjuster works. Somebody was using
this guy recently and got a little happy with the oil but that's better
that it being all dried out. The knurling on the handle has some light
wear. I gotta say that these guys sure don't show up much at all any
more. $25.00

Early Hand Forged Tulip Blade Scroll End Spatula Or Peel. Measuring 12
7/8" long, the blade is 3 1/2" long, 2 5/16" wide at the edge, and this
weighs 3 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. it's Lehigh-Berks
County PA in origin. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
is some overall patina. The blade has some pitting on both sides. The
sides of the blade are beveled slightly. The shaft has more pitting and
you can see where it was rolled over in the back. The delicate scroll
hook at the end is good. I gotta say that it has been a long time since
I last had one of these guys to offer. $35.00

Early Hand Forged Cross Cut Saw Set or Setting Wrest. Measuring 8 1/4"
long, the slots are +/- 1/8" wide, and this weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is the usual patina found on tools of this age. The
slots have some wear but could still be used. There are some dings and
a little mushrooming on the one side. The scroll eye is good other that
a little pitting. This ain't the fanciest one of these guys that I have
had, but they sure ain't been showing up much around here either. $18.00

Early Hand Forged Conestoga Wagon Water Or Grease Bucket Hook.
Measuring 5 5/8" long, about 2 3/16" wide across the hooks, and this
weighs 1 lb 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some patina but nothing too
bad. Both hooks have a little wear on the inside but that's an
occupational hazard with these guys. The jump lips are good. These
guys sure ain't been showing up much of late, at least around these here
parts. $18.00

Early Hand Forged Wrought Iron Rope Or Chain Hook. Measuring 4 1/4"
long, 1 15/16" wide across the tip of the hook, and this weighs 8 3/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. There is the usual patina found on items of this age.
There is a little wear to the inside of the hook and eye but there is
plenty of iron left. The eye has some crusty but it's good to go. That
was never forged tight. I gotta say that this is a neat looking one of
these guys. $17.00

Early Hand Forged Belt Axe. Measuring 14 1/8" overall, the head is 5
3/8" long (across the center), the edge is 3 1/4" high (straight
across), and this weighs 2 lbs 12 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in good shape for the age and was lightly cleaned.
There is a little patina on the head but nothing too bad there. The
edge is good and sharp. The handle is old but probably not the original
one. That is good and the head is on tight setting here but things do
loosen up in shipping. These guys sure ain't getting any easier to find
and one in this condition even harder. $35.00
