No no no  this was -much- earlier than distilled gasoline or any other 
refined product.
   It was at the very beginning of the industrial revolution, the first 
steam trains were hardly on tracks yet!  People burned whale oil in 
their lamps.
   EIGHTEEN 20's - 30's
    It was crude oil straight from the ground.
