Well some friends are moving to Alaska.
Lucky news for Alaska.
I'm not very happy about it.
My cello player/music engineer and drummer too. grrrrr
So anyway, yesterday was the moving sale and Kitty n me went over and
helped.
Not so many vintage hand ww tools, but lots of quality yard tools and
country survival tools and nice country goods. Kitty n me donated a box
of collectibles of many sorts. They went rather instantly.
Lots of stuff found new homes in a very very short time. A great sale.
Well there was one item I didn't think would go locally. It was
possible but I didn't recon anybody in the neighborhood wanted a froe
who didn't already have one. There are only a few even part way serious
woodworkers and tool nuts about.
So I brought it home for you. Or, for one of us anyway.
Its a new item. 1/4" stock, rolled and welded eye. About 2" wide body
and plenty long, must be 16 or 18 inches.
Looks about the same as a woodcraft supply catalog froe. But
definitely not this years model. Its never really been used. Has a new
looking handle.
I figure it'd be fine for a starter froe for someone wanting to get
into it. There are always a few of us wanting to get into ti, and retail
is pretty high.
I don't think I'd be trying to cleave 22" wide black locust logs with
this froe, (it's not like 1/2" forged wrought iron fully tapered),
but for popping off table legs, chair arm or leg blanks from
quartered rounds, or something about like that, it should work for you.
$20 plus as cheap as I can ship it.
yours Scott
