184612 "Erik von Sneidern" <enrico62@f...> 2008‑11‑13 Erik von Sneidern bio update
I've been with the OT list since 1998 and am updating my bio.
I teach in a prison school at the Auburn Correctional Facility,
built about 100 feet from where inmates once silently built
wooden planes for the Auburn Tool Company and others
who contracted with the state from roughly 1830-1900.

I enjoy using handtools more than collecting them. I have
done that a little with Disston saws in order to research
them for the Disstonian Institute. At times I have sent them
away again because I don't want to live in a museum. My
challenge now is to organize and store my working set
of tools in a useful way in my shop. It is a 24' x 32' pole
building, insulated and heated with a woodstove in the winter.
The insulated building has made summer work much more
enjoyable.

I have done carpentry, trim, and house remodeling before
becoming a teacher. I was also an apprentice electrian for
a time. I have built some of the furniture and cabinetry in
my house and have considered building myself a Morris
chair and ottoman for several years. I still haven't convinced
myself to start that project. My favorite wood to look at is
black cherry.

There is nothing sage or inspiring for me to add, so I'll leave it as is.
