The blade does not need to turn or twist in the kerf. The transition from
vertical to horizontal is not immediate - it is a diagonal transition so
that the leading end of the horizontal plane of the blade is sort of like
the very tip of a keyhole or pad saw - very thin - then the horizontal plane
widens as you push the saw forward - so as you push the saw forward you stop
making a vertical kerf and start making a horizontal kerf.

Kinda hard to describe, but if you saw the blade up close, you'd see how it
works.

Yes, but it went down a kerf-wide slot and didn't seem to have anywhere to
turn inside the kerf -- let alone to turn flat and cut flat.
