Esteemed Galoots, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mike Jones, and I
love tools, especially old woodworking tools.

I live near Parker, Colorado, with my wife, 2 dogs, and 5 cats. I am a
Business Analyst, spending the day toying with databases and my evenings in
the workshop. I began my love of wood and tools at the age of 17, working as
a frame and trim carpenter, swinging (primarily) a 32 oz Vaughn hammer (my
boss at the time insisted that everything be hand-nailed, even though most
crews used air-nailers). After several years of building homes, I folded up
my business and moved into the Corporate world, where I remain thiry years
later. My woodworking is primarily for enjoyment, and at this point in time
I use both p*w*r and hand tools, although I must admit that I prefer using
those that don't require a cord.

I've always had a passion for things with sharp edges, so I'm particularly
fond of chisels and planes. Some of my current projects include building a
roll-around assembly table for the shop, cabinets for the main bathroom,
chisel rack for the lathe, stain and finish the drawer fronts for the master
vanity, drywall the interior of the shop, build the new workbench, etc. And
of course, I'm always on the prowl for tools. I picked up a Disston level
and several Stanley braces at a garage sale last Saturday. I actually was
able to use the level the same day, hanging a cabinet in a spot too tight
for my 48" level, the 18" Disston was perfect.

Anyway, I've enjoyed the posts that I've read on this list; it seem there's
quite a collection of good folks here, and I look forward to participating
in future discussions.

Mike Jones
