163372 "Kenneth Vaughn" <kvaughn65@c...> 2006‑09‑15 Updated Bio
Greetings All,

I need to update my Bio to correct the links to my personal website
which I have moved to Comcast. The Bio is otherwise unchanged.

---------------------------

Time to introduce myself and join in the discussions. I have been
aware of the "porch" for several years but wasn't sure that I was
enough of a galoot to fit in with the group. I'm certainly not new to
woodworking which has been a hobby of mine for 45 years. I have been
at different times in my life:

1) a hand tool user who owned a few power tools
2) a mostly power tool user who used a few hand tools
3) a hand tool user, and *not* a collector
4) a collector of hand tools who has used most of them

First the biographical data and I will keep it short. Graduated from
the Colorado School of Mines with an engineering degree in 1961.
Spent the next two years in the Army and became interested in
woodworking while using the excellent crafts shop at Aberdeen Proving
Grounds, Maryland. I was introduced to the newly emerging computer
industry while on active duty and when I returned to Colorado in 1963
I went to work for UNIVAC, a division of Remington Rand at that time.
I later joined Control Data Corporation who manufactured mainframes
and super computers for the scientific and engineering segments of
industry. I worked for CDC for 25 years until taking an early
retirement.

I have maintained a personal website for 7 years and it documents my
workshop and tools in considerable detail. My hand tool pages show
more than 100 planes, 50 plus chisels, around 25 spokeshaves, 25 hand
saws, 15 hand drills, and a variety of other hand tools. Here is a
