Opps, forgot and sent from wrong email well, here it is again :)

Well, Hi everyone. I am getting back into things and getting back on
track. I have gone through a few changes since I was last here. I am no
longer teaching school. I am working for the University of Texas - Pan
American babysitting computers and such now. Life is much less stressful
and getting ready to start getting my tools out of storage and back into
action. I have just bought a house and have to start all over setting up
workshop. At least now I have space to work. My workshop where I was was
broken into and luckily the only tool stolen that matters was my favorite
slick. I laughed to myself when I saw that they had stolen a few tailed
high speed rotary finger eaters worth at best $100 total (New prices) and
moved my 2C off to the side for a low end craftsman router that never
would stay set to depth. Same for moving the boxed set of Irwin auger bits
to get the $35 chineese benchtop drill press. Sure do miss that slick
though. I guess that they took it to scrape paint or something. Oh well.

After getting things hauled to a safe place from thieves but not
rust , I put everything on hold for a while. I quit my teching job
and went back to grad school (Computer Science) and ended up working here
for the department. I have just started resurrecting my colle.. erhm,
WORKING set of tools and getting ready to start a marathon cleanup and
sharpening session. Still have lots of iron to get moved. Haven't moved
any of my metal bench planes and saws yet.

At present I don't know when I will be able to move my big bench home. For
the time being, I am going to buy a pre-made one (The little folding wall
mounted bench at Garrett Wade looked interesting -- any opinions? ) since
it wont kill me to have more than one bench handy.

Also I am going to start getting a few tools that I want to fill out my
wishlist (Like finally breaking down and grabbing a new-made panel
raiser.)

Anyone know it William Alden woodworking tools is still alive? Their
website seems to have become a junk trap. More importantly, anyone
carrying the new-oldtool Stanley line that they carried. Specifically the
new wedged wooden planes (no fancy schmancy adjusters) were really nice
and the mortise chisels (I wanted to pick up one more size).

Well, enough for now. Feels good to be back.

David Kirtley
