How Do, Galoots
Guess I'll step out of the shadow and into the glare of daylight (Yea, though
I walk through the Gulley of the Galoot, I shall fear no . . .). My name
is Bob Johnson and in real life I work in the Construction division of a
semiconductor manufacturing company. I must confess (Forgive me Paddy for I
have sinned . . . ) that I not only like old hand tools, I also like old
Power (shudder) tools. I have acquired over many years, a 1965 Powermatic 66,
a 1945 Delta 14" bandsaw, and several ancient lathes all of which I have
rebuilt. Now, before you flame and fillet me, let me add that I have also
collected a number (about 20) old planes and "restored" them to user quality.
I have also acquired old wrenches, screwdrivers, blowtorches, etc. through
a life of attending garage sales. (SWMBO says I'll buy anything if it's
dirty enough).
I can't say I'm an accomplished woodworker, but I'm trying to get there. I
also have acquired an old metal lathe and am trying to figure it out.
I anjoy "Old Tools" and hope to be a constructive, if not frequent, contributor.
I'll leave you with a question. If you call your selves "Galoots", would that
make your wives "Galooses"? :^)
Bob
