-226 Pierre Fogal <pfogal@g...> 1970‑01‑01 Forwarding My Bio with brief addendum

(originally posted Jan 19, 96 )

Hello!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pierre Fogal, and I recently
signed on to this list. I am a Canadian living in exile in Denver, CO,
along with my wife and our two cats. During work hours I am a physicist
at the University of Denver. My current area of expertise is the analysis
of spectroscopic data taken in the Canadian Arctic. Anyway, enough of
the cold stuff and on to the cool!

I learned (and am still learning) woodworking at my Pa's side. He still
resides in the frozen north though, so we don't do much together. Current
projects are our new rec room, (it _is_ woodworking, just as soon as your
done with the electrical, drywall etc), my mother-in-laws Christmas gift,
and a workbench. Tools include a number of mortising chisels picked up
for a song at a tool swap, some paring chisels, a couple of hand saws and 3
Stanely planes. I have a WW2 vintage #5, and 1950's vintage #7C and a
1990 block plane (guess which one came first ...). I confess to having a
totally inadequate sharpening set up, which I hope to address soon. I also
have a Jet TS which does a nice job of reducing wood to manageable sizes.
I promise I won't mention it again!

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Best Regards,
Pierre

Since originally posting this bio back in Jan 1996, I've finished the gift and t
he
workbench but not the rec room. It's almost done. I've also picked up a bonfer
ific
#4, a bunch more saws, brace and some bits, a 78, a wooden rabbit and a coupla
moulding planes, and a 65 1/2 nickel plated (original) knuckle joint lever cap b
lock
plane. Man its been fun!
