76467 "Todd Harbold" <tharbold@m...> 2000‑03‑20 Bio - Long and Rambling
Hello Galooti,

My name is Todd Harbold and I've been following discussions on the list for
awhile. No comments on how long I've been lurking 'neath the porch. Just
ignore that obnoxious eau-de-coconut, but I'm hoping the SPF 40 sunblock
will keep my pasty white skin from burning now that I've finally come out
into the sunlight.

I'll start with a little background on myself. I live in the NW suburbs of
Philadelphia and am a cat-herder by day (some of you may recognize that job
as a technology manager) as well as a husband and father to SWMBO and 6
month old SWMBette/GIT respectively. Somewhere in between the madness, I
manage to pursue a few hobbies including restoring old cars, fixing the
house, and playing endless games of catch with our two brainless wonders
(others may know these shop beasts as labrador retrievers).

I also intend to fit some woodworking in too!

I'm afraid I may not have much wisdom to offer the group, but I have been
learning a ton by keeping my ear to the porch floor. I'll admit, I have
occasionally been seduced by some tailed demons and the ways of Nahm. While
I don't expect to be able to exorcise _all_ of the demons, I have discovered
the quieter, nobler way and suspect that it is not too late to be saved.

I have not amassed many tools yet probably because I will NEVER become a
collector - I'm only gonna buy 'users' and only the users that I need ;-).
That said, I do possess a #7 (jointer, Jeff) circa WWII, a Stanley 965N
brace, a beautiful pair of Disston saws including a D7 filed crosscut and a
D8 thumbhole filed rip (thank you Mr. Taran - the saws have exceeded my
expectations), and a cheesy set of 'modern-era' Buck Bros. chisels. I have
also placed an order with Lie-Nielsen for an IT dovetail saw thanks to some
generous birthday donations from my family!

Planned acquisitions over the summer will hopefully include a decent, user
quality #4 (smoother, Jeff), a few older chisels for morticing, and possibly
some Irwin bits (just because). (Some may consider this a drive-by WTB)

To date my wood-related projects have been a bit more carpentry than
woodworking due to my home repair focus, and a large portion of my hobby
time has been dedicated to working on an old sportscar. I have recently
sold the car and am considering building a wooden boat.

Well, that's probably enough rambling for now. If your still reading,
thanks for sticking with me!

Submitted in humble Galootness,
Todd Harbold
