271588 Dragon List <dragon01list@g...> 2020‑08‑05 a galoot in the news
it occurred to me i’d not heard from larry holland in some time, either
here or personally, so i wrote him a note and decided if i could find out
online what he is up to (and hoping like hell he still is up to something!).

i found this, dated 6 July:

just in case anyone might want to know :)

Bill,
I sure thank you for that good read.  From bees to boots to......
Quite a story.

God bless,
Mike

Well, we always knew Larry was galoot through and through. I can see through
the journalistic rosy picture and imagine the amount of sheer hard work needed
to avoid the ‘industrial apprentices’ we each turn to for the roughing out. At
the same time, I think we all understand the sense of satisfaction and
appreciation of the final products.

And - for the benefit of any other galoots outside the chinook area, you need to
sidestep the geographical filter by using a gdpr neutral browser. Tor did it for
me. Well worth the minor inconvenience.

When I’m in my cave, I shall salute you Larry.

Yorkshireman Galoot
Yesterday was dig out the pile of saws and dig through looking for something
suitable for a timber framer - a request from an old friend.
Contrary to one of our strict rules, I put them all together and took a photo.
At a modest 24 panel saws, nothing to shout about here of course, but lots of
clean up time needed before I can dispose of (most of) them on the open market.

Apropos not hearing from someone, does anyone know anything about Sandy Moss?
He hasn’t updated his website (Sydnas Sloot) since April 29. I emailed him about
a month ago but haven’t received a response. I wonder if he retired or is simply
taking a break, but with the virus raging throughout the country it’s a bit
concerning. I know he’s a galoot so I thought someone might have some info to
share. No need to go into personal details, just is he okay or not.

I can say that I had a brief exchange with Sandy Moss, just this past March.

He did reply to my inquiry about spiral screwdrivers and also stated
that, "my interests have wandered recent years" and that "doesn't leave
much time to pursue my old interests in screw drivers or other tools."
He is retired and did list several new interests which seem to have
superseded his long-time previous tool interests.

His website http://www.sydnassloot.com/brace.htm is still up, but maybe
not active.
