Cannot find it now. However Paul Sellers talks about this on one of his
sharpening videos.
Do not use a metal hammer. Dont ask me how I know.
I did use a softer metal and it helped some. But I was still a little gun shy.

Reading on Japanese chisels with the hollow in the back, one source said that
light hammering on the face will change the metal slightly to provide more flat
when you have sharpened up to the hollow.  Might this work on plane blades with
a pronounced belly - hammer it out to make flattening easier?
