Thank you Scott, I know you really mean it :-)

This is the second one of these I've come across, I have a bit of a vice
problem, I"m not proud, the last one got passed on to a friend who makes
cigar box guitars and archery long bows, I think he would get more use out
of it than me.

This one was too neat to leave behind (you always say that says the lovely
wife) but needs a good cleaning to see any markings on it. and to free up
the bit that secures the vise to the base. Jaws also see to be a bit
misaligned but that might be the base clamping feature as well.
