GtGrouch and OLDTOOLS: Sadly, I believe you will find that Bill Rittner is no longer offering knobs and totes. I do not have any information as to whether or not he is processing orders for the other items Note that the last blog entry on that site is dated September 2015. Read that website carefully; he was spending two hours on the “finishing touches” of each tote. Very difficult to make money that way, although from what I heard back at the time, his product was impeccable. Note especially his use of 5/4 stock rather than 4/4 stock! I’m still kicking myself for not ordering a lifetime supply while they were available. Is there a niche market for high-quality replacement totes? You betcha! Some tool & die person should make a mold which emulates the best Stanley tote profile for #4 through #8, perhaps with some “fattening,” and have them produced in an attractive and durable sort of plastic, perhaps red Tennite. Highland Woodworking has replacement tote and knob sets in rosewood. Don't have personal experience with them, but they look nice. Ken |
